muh me paani aa gaya Manish. And with the limited options in Pune - can't even do anything more than read all this right now.
Will fetch this post if I ever happen to go to Lucknow

If you are talking about Lucknow, and Nabaw and their cuisine then I think no one can bet them. :D.

Nice post with all the informations. Got to know more about Lucknow and Lucknowi khan-paan.

Keep it up.

I read your post about Karva Chauth too.

I think Teez is difficult vrat than Karwar Chauth in which women/girls don't drink or eat the whole day and night not even like in Karva Chauth after seeing the Chaand.

I think I must say we Newar DO NOT have such social customs and but other Nepali Bhramin and Chhetri have Teez which is kept for husband's long life.

And regarding keeping such fast is a social customs and women and girls keep under pressure but I think they love to keep otherwise if one does not want then no one can force to do so to anyone.

So women love to this vrat and men also love their wives due to this a lot :D.

Kya yaar.. I just turned into a vegetarian a few weeks ago...YOu are changing my mind again....:-P

Gravatar hi manish, I am booking a ticket to lucknow right now. and if that does not work out I might just start walking towards it. great post. bhoookh lagi haiiiii.

Gravatar ah, how can you forget the famous kulfi falooda in aminabaad??? his shop if full of customers even in December, the hight of winter!

Gravatar Hi there..
Chanced upon your blog, and memories of my days spent in Lucknow came flooding back! I spent about 21 years in Lucknow, having completed most of my school/college education there. Am now in Pune, and haven't been back to my hometown for many years. But your blog made me think of Lucknow once more. I can almost smell the kebabs and the biryanis in Aminabad again...

Gravatar hey Manish, you must be astonished to get this mail but your article on Lukhnavi food really helped me a lot for my text on 'Nawabi Spelndor of Lucknow'. i was looking for some specific information like name of the food, restaurant name and most importantly, where it is located for my text and your post helped me immensely. i am a delhi based content writer and i must say if you were not a software engineer, you could be a very good content writer. thanks again. bye

Gravatar My pleasure reminding you of Lucknow once again, Sameer.

My pleasure Durba. Do let me know where your text appears. I would like to read it

Gravatar That's a succlent :D post on the city of nawabs. Thoroughly comprehensive. I have lived in lucknow for a year though as I was young I don't have many memories from those days. Your post makes me want to rush there and embrace all the good food.

Gravatar I am myself from Lucknow but left that place nearly forty years back. I do not know whether Chatpati Fish House exists any more in Naka Hindola or not. If it does, pl go, taste their fish-fry once. Then, there used to be Durga Kachodiwala who used to sell his ware strictly between 16.30-18.00 during winters and between 19.30-20.30 during summers in the verandah in front of the shop of Haji Abdul Wahab, Bags and Hold-all merchant. These were maida kachoris, served with very very spicy aloo ki sukhi subzi and nothing else. If his son/grandson is still in business, please try it.

Gravatar I think the shop at Nazirabad corner in Aminabad selling 'matar' is still there. If yes, then not mentionng him is blasphemy.
