Athiti Devo Bhava

Nice post...
Btw why don't you provide rss/xml feed functionality for your blog.

Thanks.

Solved the problem of feed. You can see the the link on the right side of the page(http://manishchauhan.blogspot.com/atom.xml).

Excellent analysis. That's why even public is rejecting this film from day one. All the TV channels are also saying similar things. And I find one omre thing lacking, that arrangement of lighting. In previous film, it was excellent and the use of shadows in a dim light was brilliant. But here, the sets were so brightly lit, that it looked like a 5* hotel. And the costumes were more like Trun Tahalayani's creations.

That was a good observation, but then, ladies always are better observer than gentlemen.

So here also UJ

I knew you would write a post as It's about UJ and Lucknow.

I will read later on. Lot's catch here.

Came to make my entry here too

Yours Juneli :P

Hmmmm, any self respecting lover of Lucknow would agree. While I have not seen the movie as yet (Wondering why I should be masochistic enough to inflict 'that' pain upon myself), I have seen the promos and am SO disappointed that a story that is so culturally rich and informative has been reduced to recycled plastic.

I remember when Muzaffar Ali was shooting his 'Umrao Jaan', a clasmate of mine (from the famous Kidwai family of Lko) used to come back with stories about how their Haveli in Maleehabad was being used to shoot some portions of the film!

Also, did you know... that some of the songs and dances in MA's UJ were shot in the Baradari that stands in the middle of the Lko zoo!! We lived very close to the place hence 'saw' the buzz and activity that went on...and these shoots were almost always done late night and through the night!

Ahh...cinematic license should be allowed to go only thus far...It becomes criminal when a culture's history is murdered like this!

Oh, in that Baradari too! Some of them werel also shot at Qaiserbagh Baradari! Thanks for the info!

Gravatar Just because Rai's face makes for a good poster, doesn't mean it will translate to a good movie.

And now there's talk of a sequel to this jargon. Like the Bachchan brand needed any further brandishing.

Good review. Cheers.
