I never care about the price of gas because there's not much to be saved by shopping around. When the bad starts to outweigh the good, I'll drive less.
The money question is all about perceived value. It irks me to pay for valet parking, but unless there are street spaces RIGHT THERE I won't quibble.
I don't have any major money hangups. I've paid airport prices for gum and not batted an eye, because I wanted the gum. I guess my only problem with money is its scarcity.
I guess life is all about what you would do for a dollar and what you would do with a dollar. For me, I won't slave for beggar's pay, likewise gold and jewels,But I would slave to learn the way to sink the ship of fools.
I've been known to stand in the middle of the Women's department in Macy's, bellowing, "Are you %$*&ing KIDDING me??" while I look at price tags.
But food? I have absolutely NO qualms about forking over $14.99 for 6 ounces of unprocessed Tupelo honeycomb that's been harvested by Cisterian nuns who've taken a vow of silence.
I will, absolutely, plan my life around hitting the local gas station on Sundays when they lower the prices a few cents, driving dangerously beyond the red E on the gauge, but I barely notice the price of free range organic cilantro-basil pesto at Whole Foods...
I flip out over the cost of bread and cereal, but guitars? No problem!!
My wife comes from the same bizarroland that you did - free parking is a gift from the Almighty. However, she would gladly use 3 gallons of gas cruising to find the one open parking spot in the universe.
I never used to give a rat's ass about the price of gas. But now I check a couple of stations hoping to save that 1 or 2 cents per gallon. As for my splurges, now that spring is here, I'll drive 45 minutes to the garden center for some glorious plant material.
Hey, I saw this guy, he is taking advantage of people everywhere...at the supermart, while on vacation. I think we'll be seeing a lot of him come Memorial Day weekend.
