Beautiful, beautiful birds. I am incredibly fond of the rose breasted grosbeak. We have one who visits. I put my feeders back up. I hope I don't get bears as you did, but honestly the food has brought many more birds into the yard. I think they needed it for whatever reason. There are a dozen bluejays every day.

Our bear only visits if I leave the feeders outside at night. I've been very consistent about bringing them inside after dark after the first visit of the season. My only raiders these days are the red squirrel and the chipmunks.
We've got at least two male grosbeaks on the property--I saw one chasing the other a few days ago. So attractive!

Here's a tech comment. I went to the blog as usual, and clicked on comments for this post, thinking you may have written back. It said there were no comments. So, I got the bright idea of clicking the title of the post on the right side of your page, where they are listed, and it came up, and had the comments. I don't think this used to happen; in fact, I'm quite sure it didn't because I don't remember ever having to look at the individual post to read the comments before. I wonder if haloscan changed something.

I noticed this morning that sometimes the comments link showed comments and sometimes it looked empty of comments. I'm guessing it's just a haloscan thing, some sort of temporary (I hope) glitch.

Well, if you go to my blog today, you'll see that I should have done as you do, and brought the feeders in at night. :
