Hopefully the Judge who handles this case will think about what might have happened had that man found the little girl in the house.
Our judicial system is far too lenient on criminals. If we would properly punish criminals the first time maybe it would deter further behavior but when you continually slap someone on the wrist, what are they learning, that the system is a joke!
I have no faith in our Judicial System at all, which means that if someone breaks into my home I will shoot first and ask questions later.

I agree that the way that DA Brandenberg considers burglary to be no big deal is horrible. Unfortunately DA's office is busy wasting their time prosecuting people caught in possession of personal use amounts of drugs while ignoring crime that actually negatively effects other people.

I do think its unfortunate that you're trying to make this crime (B&E) something more than it is by implying that the burglar is somehow a child rapist and/or murderer as well. "Won't someone think of the children!?!?" is what broke our legal system, not whats going to fix it. Burglary is rampant in Albuquerque because burglars know that the DA's office (and as a result, APD) doesn't care about burglary.

Of course, if most of this burglary was going on in the far NE heights instead of in the SE and SW quadrants, property crime would quickly become a priority again. Money talks.
