What makes even less sense is why the Secretary of Education gets a raise less than a week after these dismal results come out. WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?!?!?!?!

I am not a fan of the federal requirements of No Child Left Behind. Since that bill passed into law the government has left thousands of children behind all over the nation.
However, the system and structure of our high schools in this state as well as the nation have got to change. These results are disgusting and need to be fixed.

While I respect your opinion regarding this, I would point out it seems that the reason why NM schools aren't meeting federal education standards is that they are too difficult to obey or follow. The 'No Child Left Behind' legislation passed by Congress and Bush signed into law is obviously cumbersome for state like New Mexico to follow. I hope that Richardson revolts against "NCLB" like his doing with the REAL ID Act. 'No Child Left Behind' is a violation of the 10th Amendment of the Constitution.
