Actually, Madrid's office prosecuted five Las Cruces school board members in 2001 for open meetings act violations after they secretly gave the superintendent hundreds of thousands of dollars behind closed doors to stay in Las Cruces. All five were convicted, and it was the second time in the state's history that law has been enforced with criminal charges.
In addition, lest we forget, Madrid has taken on the governor on some large issues - most notably the state airplane and the signed resignation letters he required of appointees so he could remove them when he didn't like what they were doing.

I appreciate Mister Haussamen views regarding the open meetings act and the AG's acting on those violations. But it only strengthens Mario's view on Patricia Madrid selective prosecution on official malfeasance.
Example, the department of public safety has been sued an number of times by the Foundation for open government for public records regarding state police shooting and state police malfeafeasance. Why does it take a private organization along with private money to make the department of public safety follow the law? Why hasn't AG Madrid gotten involved? Because she is scared of the governor and has no backbone to stand up to the man.
She has been a horrible AG and would be a horrible representative if she were ever elected.

A/G Madrid did nothing about Gov. Richardsons Presidental Jet... According to Heath Hassmanen Madrid fought Gov. Richardson on the Jet. It appears that Gov. Richardson won the so called fight. Richardson has a Presidental Jet. A/G Madrid has done nothing to fight Corruption and Cronyism within State Government and again did nothing to Prosecute the Kick Back Scandal in 1999. A/G Madrid is corrupt and does not deserve to represent New Mexicans in the 1st District. Eli Chavez, Independent
