As presented here, Baca's a "freak" of journalism. You're correct Mario.
Local news first. Always. Well, OK, not necessarily if it's the Circle K being robbed by beer runners, but ...

Mario:
Yes, Baca's racial innuendo makes us uncomfortable, but it's not uncommon if you read the newspaper much. Is he telling us something we all don't like to hear?
At issue is Latino allegiance to the Democrat Party, very similar to black allegiance to same. If minorities would vote their consciences (or even their pocketbooks) rather than their culture, there would be healthy political competition, checks-and balances, are far less possibility for corruption in NM. (Look at the recent revelation about contributions to Richardson and Madrid campaign funds from State contractors. If NM were 51%D & 49%R, politicians wouldn't dare accept this money, for fear of electoral rage. But with huge lead in campaign fundraising and voter polls, they laugh and plunder-on). The problems at the Treasurer's office are decades old and I'm sure are seen as just another "entitlement." I'd be really surprised if the AG's office wasn't aware of them: that's why the FBI had to step in. Then the trial: no guilty verdict--shades of OJ.
And what has Latino allegiance to the Dems got them? Perhaps generations of State jobs and comfortable pensions, but furthermore a state that ranks low in good things, and ranks high in bad things.
Sometimes the truth is hard to swallow.
