Mario, I watched the whole debate. Thank you.
I saw the questions about Al Sharpton and you are correct. But, I went to the Joe Monahan site and he has either changed his blog or you are are wrong.

Great job Mario.
America gets to see what a leftist nitwit Madrid is.
I'll be participating on a radio program today and will mention this vid.
Heather did a great job. But heck, we all know she outclasses Madrid in every department.

Who would represent New Mexico better, a true blue New Mexican born candidate such as AG Madrid. Or an east coast elitist from New Hapmshire like Ms. Wilson? I would think Ms. Madrid knows what is best for New Mexico and my family because she is from here. What can Ms. Wilson possibly say other than she supported the war that has killed and injured dozens of New Mexicans. My vote is for Madrid .. VIVA MADRID

Jose, according to your rationale, Michael Montoya and Robert Vigil would make good representatives because they were born here.
Maybe it's just me, but there seems to be a huge flaw with your argument.

Yea Abe, Madrid's UNM degrees definitely beat out a Rhodes Scholar that went to Oxford LOL. No matter how ya spin it pal, Madrid was bad.
And all this Madrid is our hometown girl nonsense cracks me up. For being a hometown girl, why doesn't she ever talk about local issues? All she talks about is her bad case of Bush Hate Derangement Syndrome, cutting and running from Iraq, and how she's going to lower temperatures of the earth's climate LOL. Libs should be embarrassed they fielded such a loser.

Mario,
You've done a great thing for this community. I've watched the first 10 minutes and can already see that Madrid won't answer questions. No wonder she doesn't want these things televisied. Because of your efforts, we can all see for ourselves how these two performed and sounded--no filtering from biased bloggers or the shallow news media.
Terrific!

I believe that Wilson was more polished. This election must be about accountability. Wilson has voted with the Bush agenda more than 90% of the time. It is critical at this juncture to throw out the Republicans and demand more of the Democrats. I will urge all my friends and family to vote for Madrid.

After reading about this race while traveling to the U.S. on business, I thought I'd learn more. Thanks for the video feed. To put my two cents in, as a Canadian neutral observer, it appeared Madrid won this little get together pretty handily. As a Wilson supporter, if you're really interested in helping her win, I'd step back a bit and think about taking this download off the air, so to speak. This is the kind of help no candidate needs. Maybe she'll do a lot better next time and you can use that one.

Wow! That's the best that Patrica Madrid can do? The entire hour was more about Bush than it was either of the two candidates. There was more talk about Iraq than any local issues. Madrid is clearly a "one-trick-pony". If it wasnt for Bush and the war in Iraq she would have nothing to talk about. Perhaps if she hadn't smoked so much pot in college she might be able to remember the other DNC talking points. As an interesting side note Madrid never denies that she knew about the illegal activities of Robert Vigil and she never explains why she ignored what was happening and why she refused to indict Mr. Vigil. Madrid also refuses to deny that her legal decisions are for sale to the highest bidder. Business as usual in New Mexico. Let's not send a corrupt, bleeding heart, anti-business politician to replace Heather Wilson.

I think the openness of your video, and the candidates, is commendable.
It is difficult to be a politician, and to speak in front of audiences.
Whoever one votes for, I hope we will be a little more appreciative and considerate of those who attempt to represent us.
A little humility and nuance would help, citizens.

Mario, first I need to say you did a fine job as a “Talking Head” on TV this morning. And, thank you for everything you‘ve done to shed some needed light on the attempts by Patricia Madrid to confuse the citizens with nonsense.
You’ve done the people of New Mexico, and of the nation a great service by having the insight and courage to videotape this debate, and by posting it here on the net. Again, thank you for all that.
Next, for those who have now watched the debate and may be at least in part unfamiliar with some of the issues brought up in the debate, I’d like to recap and clarify one of the high points, or low points, depending on one’s point of view, of the debate. Ms. Madrid has largely centered her campaign around the Iraq war, and referring to the war numerous times, during the debate.
Each time Madrid failed to point out that the vote in Congress sending our troops into the war, was bipartisan and overwhelmingly in favor of doing so. 81 House Democrats voted to send our troops to war. With 29 Senate Democrats voting for the same.
Although Wilson brought it up, Madrid failed to mention or acknowledge that it was President Bill Clinton’s held over CIA Director George Tenet, who told President Bush that Iraq’s having WMD’s was a “Slam dunk”. And, that every Intelligence service in the world believed Saddam had, and was going to resume making more, WMD, as soon as UN sanctions were lifted.
Democrat politicians in general, including Ms. Madrid, for purely cheap political reasons, refuse to acknowledge that the threat of WMD is great today, and has been great in the past as well, against the citizens of the United States.
That threat was so great in 1998 that without any congressional or UN authorization, President Clinton launched missiles into the Sudan killing an unknown number of Sudanese, to destroy a suspected WMD manufacturing facility.
Ms. Madrid never once mentioned that in October of 1998, President Bill Clinton pushed for and was able to pass in Congress the bipartisan “Iraq Liberation Act of 1998”, making it the official policy of the United States to remove Saddam from power.
Nor does she mention that without any additional congressional authorization, two months after passing the Iraq Liberation Act into law, President Clinton killed up to 2,000 Iraqi’s when he launched a huge military missile and bombing assault against Saddam’s military, and his suspected hideaway’s for WMD, called “Operation Desert Fox”.
Mario, I could go on and on and on… and on, about the lack of honesty, the lack of a coherent strategy to make a positive contribution, and about all the misleading omissions and outright attempts to twist reality and history, by Ms. Madrid in this campaign.
But I won‘t. Not now anyway. I shouldn’t need to do that, bearing in mind that reality stares each of us in the face each day. Even if Ms. Madrid has a tough time recognizing and operating within reality. Even when it’s clearly right

I've lived in NM for one year and am not familiar with the candidates or all of the issues specific to this state. I've tried not to listen to the commercials because advertisers lie to you all the time. Both of these candidates leave me with more questions.
First, I HATE Bush. I think he is...it's not very lady like for me to say what I think about him but I'm sure you get the point. I'm also not a Democrat or a Republican. I'm one of those swing voters and vote on the merits of the candidate and not the party. Heather Wilson leaves me cold. Thankfully she did stand against Bush on an issue.
Patricia Madrid appears to be a puppet for the Democratic Party. She didn't have an opinion of her own. Her ideas are the same ones they have been talking about for years. What I don't see is a plan to get those ideas on the table. She can walk the walk but can she show me the money. My gut tells me no.
I hate to skip an election. I've never done that before but I don't think these candidates have the best interest of the State of New Mexico or this Country at heart.

Zoey, I understand and appreciate your point of view, however, if you decide to sit on the side lines and not vote, you are in effect voting for Madrid. The consequences of Madrid getting elected are grave for the country. I beg you to reconsider. Higher taxes, more attacks like 9-11, the end of the Patriot Act and other tools that law enforcement need to keep us safe, more wacked out Eminent Domain rulings, etc etc etc. The list goes on and on and on. Every seat counts in the House of Representatives and every vote will count as well (unless the democrats start throwing voter registration forms in the trash can as they have done in the past, or taking ballot boxes home with them in the trunk of their cars, etc.)

First off I would like to say that this is an amazing website and I am so happy that I stumbled upon it. Mr. Burgos you are doing a great thing for our community. I also would like to say that I respect everyone's comments of which I have read.
I am a very conservative person in general, so naturally I sided with Representative Wilson. I have voted for Wilson ever since her election against Phil Maloof. I think it is very ludacris for New Mexican's to make our choice on whether or not they are native born. I respect Heather Wilson's education, and I respect Madrid's person of the people mentality. However, after watching this debate I find it hard to believe that anyone could support Patricia Madrid as a candidate, and that her support is more for the democratic party in general. She was very inconsistant all the way through, and had a tough time speeking. I also find it interesting that on the Madrid Campaign website, it said she won this debate--of which there is no way that I can believe that. I will be very interested in seeing the televised debate--so far I don't see Madrid as a very "independant" candidate--though Wilson is cleary a very conservative person. I can't wait until election day!!!!

Mario, I guess it got lost in translation, but first, albeit late, welcome to the great state of New Mexico. Next, thanks for this fine service you have done for us. As for bloggers supporting Wilson, what can I say other than a vote for Wilson is a vote for Bush, like it or not, and that is why Madrid should harp on this fact. A vote for Bush is a vote for staying the course which means: 1) creation of more jihadists who hate the US, 2) continued factual insecurity in the US--we are less safe thanks to George, not more, 3) a staggering national debt hithero unseen, 4) continued lies and deceptions, the list could go on. The pure Haliburton Heather who doesn't do illegal substances, and doesn't tolerate cheats, etc., did remove files concerning a matter regarding her husband when Gov. Johnson placed her in charge of the Department of Children, Youth, and Families. This has to prompt questions as to what she was doing while Mark Foley was preying on pages. For you Ann Coulter fans, this is NOT gay bashing, this is a matter of an adult, a powerful adult, abusing that power against children. Question: Do we need more of this? Absolutely not. That is why we must vote for Madrid.

Madrid seemed a little nervous but she did a nice job connecting Wilson to Bush. Exacly what Wilson wants to stay away from Madrid wasted Wilson on the perscription drug part of the debate. She won that part hands down and you could tell her anger and passion were real. Madrid did a nice job showing how out of touch with average Americans Wison is especially on the war in Iraq. Most Americans want out and we want congress to start working on a plan to get us out. Madrid won on the Iraq war big time! Some of Madrid's indepth knowldede of forign policy issues needs work but her "big picture" look at these issues was smarter than Wilson's. Madrid seems to have better political instincts while struggeling with a lot of the details. Being able to recite details requires only memorization skills. I get the feeling Madrid has better street smarts and better instincts for smelling out good and bad policy and she will learn quickly on the job. Wilson's track record of sticking with the Bush administration and the big corportions is enough to see her go.
To someone out of touch with "regular" New Mexico citizens, Wilson won as she looked more polished. To the rest of us who know the difficulties of keeping our heads above water and who want out of Iraq, Madrid trounced Wilson. It was a TKO for Madrid and I predict this will show up in the polls!

Considering that one of Madrid's current AG staff hung up the phone on me when I called to ask a question as a New Mexican consumer (not to mention her boorishly-rude behavior); as well as having my private property "spammed" with "Madrid for Congress" signs (which I have to remove and throw out about five a day) propagating on my land faster than rabbits, it should be ostensibly clear who I will be voting for.

Thanks for posting the video. Heather nailed every point and was very poised and articulate. It's such a shame that a candidate like Madrid would even be close in the running, as we see how she has nothing to say, but when she does, she reads from a piece of paper, she knows absolutely nothing and it's embarrassing to live in a state where a race is so tight between two people that are on totally different wavelengths as far as class, integrity and intelligence go. Madrid has the speaking capacity of an eight year old, and then tries to pull the black and jew card at the end,, pathetic..

Thank you for posting this video. I think it is horrible that Madrid would only agree to a public debate after early voting had started. I think Heather handled the Iraq pre-war intelligence question very well, and in general is the more honest of the two. That said, I strongly disagree with her on far too many important issues. In particular, she has been one of the strongest supporters of the weakening of our civil rights in the name of terrorism, and that in itself more than enough reason to make me vote against her.

Wow – thank you for posting this. The problem is that Madrid is a horrible speaker, embarrassing communicator and horrible representative. She can’t communicate a coherent thought. It’s embarrassing that she’s a UNM school of Law alumnus. Last spring I had the opportunity to do an externship with the second judicial district where I saw Madrid attempt to prosecute a NM businessman. Madrid had little evidence, court room poise and credibility. Her argumentation was weak, her logic was faulty and her knowledge of evidence rules was deficient. If Madrid has been an attorney for over a decade and has yet to master the necessary skill set to be a successful attorney, how can she or her supporters expect her to become a powerful voice for New Mexico in Washington. This debate mirrors the same weaknesses I observed last spring.
I’m a native New Mexican. So what if our government leaders aren’t native New Mexican’s? Very few people in leadership roles are. New Mexico has been featured in dozens of publications as the “New Arizona” for retirement. The diversity of our state is changing more so now than ever. I think it’s sad that some of you think Good New Mexico Representation requires a birth certificate from New Mexico and how closed minded to think that a Rhodes Scholar could not represent New Mexico because she’s not from here. It makes me wonder, Do you even know what a Rhodes Scholar is?
Nevertheless, Thank you for posting this video. Here here for Heather – a well spoken women.

Mario,
Thank you for posting this video. I actually needed this for a school assignment, and I'd like to point out (after reading the many responses this video has recieved) that, as a younger adult who cannot vote yet, this is all coming out extremely interesting.
As a nonvoter, it's fun to watch voters criticize each candidate, but if anyone reads this, I'd like to point out that (especially for the reviewers who were extremely left or right wing) it's probably best to not call any candidate a blubbering idiot. I, for one, believe that they are both, in fact, blubbering idiots (which, of course, can mean that neither of them are 'blubbering idiots'). Anyway, as a non-voter I thought about what I would do if I were voting - I'm in a democrat family, but I'm more of a swing 'viewer' (not quite voter). I'd like to point out to the many critics of either party that both parties had their ups and downs. Madrid did thrash Wilson at the medicare points, which (as I've found out as the family of a late cancer victim) is important, but Wilson is the overall stronger speaker and gives more secure feelings.
For serious voters, I suggest finding a nonbiased source (nearly impossible, but perhaps not) and actually looking at both party's goals and beliefs. What I've found through this whole ordeal so far is that (as one reviewer have priorly stated, only I find both candidates guilty, as well as most politicians) these candidates are basically puppets for their parties. Even if Madrid is better convincing or Wilson is a stronger speaker or whatnot, it could be foolish to only base an opinion on the candidate and forget about the party, which could also be stated vice versa.
I've said all I've had to say about this campaign. I hope I sounded as unbiased as humanly possible, and thank you for posting this video.

Unfortunately the only thing that Madrid has to stand on is Bush Bashing. If not for Madrids notes, I don't think she has a thought of her own. Being able to recite details means you know what you are talking about.

Thank you for posting this debate. I turned 18 in may of this year and I am registered as an Independent voter. I am still deciding which candidate to vote for, but this video was very helpful. Madrid seems to capitalize on Bush's lack of popularity and direct that to Wilson. It was funny to find out that Madrid did drugs when she was younger and that she seems to never look at wilson. There is so much to think about ans anylize. Can someone simply just give me a reason to believe that either candidate is better?
