Hmmm, taxpayer funded campaign mailers? You mean, like the ones Heather Wilson has sent for 8 years at a cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars to taxpayers. The 8 1/2" x 22" glossy mailers with declarations about how Heather is "saving" this thing or that. Are those the ones you are talking about?

The way I read that is that buying these tickets is a way to support the Madrid campaign, and they are encouraging you to buy tickets for other people, not make specific donations in someone else's name.
but i've been wrong before.

Yeah, because the ticket buyer is "getting something of value" (an evening of entertainment), these are not perceived by the law as campaign contributions.

Wrong, Chris if that was the case(getting something of value) then unlimited contributions could be made if the candidate gave the donor a piece of candy. Mario is right on this one. Looks skanky.

mikey is right on the money regarding mailers. there are no saints here- let's quit pretending that all the misdeeds occur on one side of the aisle or the other. its childish

Sam, i don't have problem with the mailers. To the victor goes the spoils. It looks bad but i don't believe it is illegal.
Making a contribution in another name is illegal. Period. There are people in jail because of it.
