its an unfortunate incident but it has nothing to do with anything. scuffling between supporters won't affect the outcome, has nothing to do with the issues, and does not reflect on either candidate one way or another. fluff...
yes, you are judged by the company you keep. madrid does not "keep" the company of everyone of her thousands of supporters. however, wilson does keep the company of bush & cheney and that is what's important to many voters this year.
Jordan, protesting a closed event is a time honored tradition in NM. It's just usually done by Democrats at Republican functions.
JD, take another look at that video. See the guys in suits, they're not volunteers. One of them is the paid field director for Patricia Madrid's campaign. When the "volunteers" started to yank signs from the hands of Heather supporters and rip them up, the paid staff could have asked them to stop.
They didn't.
When the guy takes aim and steps on the young woman's foot, the paid staff could have apologized for the violence.
They didn't.
At very least, they could have asked their out of control volunteers/thugs to leave or step inside.
They didn't.
Instead, they stood their silently endorsing this reprehensible behavior. Campaigns and their paid staff who sanction violence as a means of suppressing First Ammendment rights and active participation in the Democratic process are the lowest of the low.
Madrid spokesperson, Heather Brewer, clearly states in the video that she contacted the City Attorney to see what legal remedies were available. Once she realized the protestors had a right to be there, the campaign resorted to physical attacks by volunteer goons.
Unforgiveable.
One excuse for being a thug is seeing and hearing a person that you support in a debate and realize that person (Ms. Madrid) is uninformed on national issues, is confused about taxes and just who this nations enemies are, so frustration sets in knowing if she wins you lose, New Mexico loses. But girls?
