Trouble is a lot of "people" in NM love this system, think it works for them, tough luck for you, ha,ha. I got my gov. job, city, county, state, Fed., school my union and putting in my 20. Problem? I don't see a problem. I, of course, am being a bit cynical.. for those who can't tell.
I can not believe this has received so little press? I bet if it was a Republican it would be front page for days remember the "fly bye" lasted at least a week on TV and in the Press. I guess it pays to be Richardsons boy? This is truly a character test for the democrats in NM, will they live up to the challange? I doubt it.
Oh, if it was a republican you say? what about at the federal level when all the old corrupt republican leadership was reelected in a landlslide by their caucus. Yes, that was all over the news because we have such a "liberal" media. nto only that but the republicans brought back the racist Trent Lott with open arms. Doesn't even look like the republican party learned anything from the eleciton.
I disagree, I believe that the people who want to end corruption and incompetence in public service far out weigh the number of those don't.
They just have no way of exercising their will because they have to work through the "system" to fix it.

Wow JD what a short memory you have. Must I remind you of Robert Byrd Grand Wizard of KKK who still represents your party in the US Senate! Must I also remind you of the US Congressman who was a finalist with YOUR new Speaker to head the House Intel. comm. who was impeached as a judge! When Republicans are accused of something we are held to a different standard then democrats and we like that. But back to NM must I remiond you: Michael Montoya, David Vigil, Richard Vigil, Judges in Las Cruces, Courthouse in Albq., Smiley Gallegos, Buy Reardon, and now Ben Lujan? Looks like you guys are al alike. Stand proud and support your fellow democrats.
Robert Byrd was more than 40 years ago...Trent Lott just 3 years. "Finalist" in the mind of the media. He never had a chance. And may I remind you that the speaker chose to bypass the corrupt people in her party(Jefferson 90K in his fridge got kicked off of his committees) You are completely right when you say republicans are held to a different standard, but I don't know if you should be proud of the standards you have set. Let's see, Bob Ney was -convicted- a couple months before he was even asked to resign. Do I even have to bring up Mark Foley. His acts weren't even the worst of the story, the acts of the Republican leadership were more sickening. Democrats take responsible action when their members are out of line, Republicans only look for the best way to cover up their member's messes.
JD how can you discount Robert Byrd "more then 40 years ago" he was in the KKK wow! Jefferson was just re-elected, the judge who was impeached was up for a position of leadership but your leadership only caved after public opinion. What about Rep. Merther(sp) who was up for leader and caught on tape saying he would "do business" with people later? How about some of the real leaders like Clinton and Whitewater, or Bill Richardson and Los Alamos? What about here in New Mexico when we talk about the Treasurer's office, State Investment Council how about the contracts with the lawyers by Madrid or Armijo and his sexual exploits? Need I go on? When you talk about getting kicked of your committee and still returning to congress speaks volumes of your party. I do not agree with the way the leadership in Washington has handeled everything but you can not compare the LONG CORRUPT history of your party to the "screw up's" of the Republican party. I can keep going with Barney Frank and the Brothel they ran out of his house in DC, I mean come on. But in New Mexico where we both live the corruption from the democrats is second to none and you can not lay ANY of that at the feet of Republicans! I encourage all democrats to call their State Rep and tell them to vote for Ben Lujan PLEASE!
