I think the primary for the Republican Presidential election is too late, June is too late, it needs to be sooner.

A good for America?
When the best candidates America's political process can produce is a sappy Obama and a buddy plugging McCain?
I think America has died and gone to hell.
Probably comes from having cursed Israel.

first, the energy this year is *clearly* on the democratic side. turnout, money, passion, everything! you can talk to duncan all day and all night but that is simply how it is.
however! the display put on yesterday by the state dems was shameful. one polling site for all of rio rancho?? 17,000 provisional ballots because nobody knew where to vote?? starting the vote during the lunch hour??
sure, it would be have great to have half a million dollars to do it properly. but given the reality, there was no back-up plan for recruiting volunteers and making voting easy. brian colon ought to resign, he screwed up big time and made nm a national laughing stock once again.

I hope McCain is not the nominee, considering his deal making in West Virginia.

The NM Democratic party leadership is a disgrace and should be removed. These half-bright politicos are now regurgitating the meme that "no on could see this coming." Huh? Big Bill dropped out of the race after NH. So I don't buy the money excuse. Every primary and caucus has seen record turnout for the Democrats. in some cases historic numbers. Colon and Denish are channeling their inner Condi Rice. No one could have known, indeed. Problem with NM Democrats is that they have no effective leadership or management. It's a collection of individuals concerned about their own incumbency.
With that said, the Democrats have their get out the vote effort in place. Its called eight years of the former Cheerleader and his gang of war criminals. Republicans are probably in for a very large and humiliating smack down. The best you can hope for is that the Democrats don't end up with a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. I don't think Senator Udall will mind siding with a Democratic President in unwinding us from our entanglement in Iraq so we can capture and kill Bin Laden and Zawahiri. (You may remember who these guys are? The leaders of the group that attacked us on our soil.) This November could get real ugly. Cheers!

The winner take all on the Republican primaries side gives a false impression off unity. McCain is not winning the conservative voter in the primaries.
The Republicans seem to lose the fact that the Democrats will be front and center everyday on TV until at least April. That is a lot of free pub, in a year in which they already have tons of money to spend.
The Dems are not divided, they know the Dem nominee will be the next President and the are trying to get their candidate elected. Keep dreaming.
BTW Mario the Dems are showing up in record number not the Republicans. You can try to lump the numbers together but this excitement on the Dem side spells dome for the Republicans nationally.

How does the National Party having money translate to the State and local Party funding?

Michelle,
It doesn't. Chairman Weh is running a bare bones camp over at the State Party and the ones that are there no little to nothing about politics.
There's no better proof than the fact that they were going to hire Mario Burgos to lead the Victory 2008 organization. Talk about desperation!

Michelle,
When the national party has money, it is able to put that money to work on the ground for get out the vote efforts. The more people turned out to vote for a given party, the better that party's candidates will do on election day.
In federal races that national money cannot go to individual candidate's campaigns. However, that money can go to the state party. Done right, the state party will use those funds for two efforts:
1) Registering new voters.
2) Get out the vote (GOTV) efforts.
On election day, this translates into a win.
