Actually the only interesting things about Bristol Palin's pregnancy are:

1) It shows the abject failure of the abstinence-only sex education that Governor Palin and Senator McCain support.

2) Its somewhat tragic that as a result of her mother's sudden political importance, Bristol will not be allowed to choose whether she wants to have the baby or not, whether she wants to marry the father or not, or whether she wants to give the baby up for adoption or not.

As for the rest of your post that tries to put words into the mouth of Barrack Obama (I can't see who the subject of the video is), more typical Rovian bullshit from you Mario. Keep repeating a lie over and over and some not-so-bright people will eventually believe you. Then again, the not-so-bright demographic is your base, isn't it?

Also, "everyday" isn't a word.

Dan, take a chill pill.

Insulting Mario does nothing for your cause.

I'm not insulting Mario, I'm pointing out the facts. Mario is a shill for the GOP who deals only in innuendo and smear. If he finds the facts insulting, he should change his modus operandi.

this pregancy shows the complete stupidity of palin's abstinence only policy. period. that's all there is to it.

its the same reason gay republicans like senator larry "wide stance" craig get hassled for hypocrisy. if you bash gays out one side of your mouth while the other side of your mouth is looking for same hard undercover cop dick in a public restroom, you've got it cuming.

Gravatar Excuse my political naivete, but if you are a hardcore democrat or republican, aren't you going to vote for the party regardless of who they run? I know many people who have never voted for anyone in their opposing party. Having said that, what difference does it make what scandals etc. someone has been involved in? You are still going to vote for your party.
I don't know either Dan or Cris but assume they would not vote republican regardless of who the candidates are. So why are you concerned who the republicans run?

Gravatar My apologies to Chris for spelling his name incorrectly.

Gravatar Mike, I vote for the person, not the party. I've only voted for a Democrat for president once in my life - Kerry - because of the corruption and incompetence of the Bush administration.

If this were a contest between, say, the year 2000 version of John McCain and Bill Richardson (who i consider corrupt and only mildly competent), or Gary Johnson vs Hillary Clinton, I'd vote GOP in a heartbeat.

Unfortunately John McCain has completely sold out his former ideals in pursuit of pandering to the evangelical crowd who seem to consider facts and logic to be satanic.

It may be true that a lot of people view their political affiliation like one might view affiliation to an NFL team but its not true of me. The last ten years have exposed the GOP as being unable to handle the power they're entrusted with and nothing will reform them short of the pure punch to the genitals of being removed from power entirely. Remember the contract with America? Do you know how much of it was actually delivered?

A not-so-wise man once said: "There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."

Hear hear.

Gravatar Dan, you are insulting Mario and everyone who reads this blog. Calling him a moron is insulting.

He is allowed a voice. This is his blog, start you own if you don't like it.

I am sure that Mario will not go on to your blog and insult you.

Gravatar Thanks for your comments Dan. I vote for the party that has the platform which I support in a given election year.

Gravatar The abstinence only education has scientifically proven to be worse than a failure. Ignorance actually harms our youth.
If Palin''s daughter's ignorance is not enough, then how about the kind of relationship a mother has with a daughter? Where was Palin and how come she did not know that her daughter was sexually active? The family values party proves itself to be hypocritical again. Palin is a sorry excuse for a parent because the proof is in the pudding. That is the the point. Teen pregnancy doesn't just happen. It happens when a parent is not paying attention, protecting and or teaching.

Gravatar John, I am also allowed a voice and will continue using it until such time as Mario chooses to stop letting me do so (it is, as you point out, his blog after all.)

Feel free to not read my comments if you can't handle them. I don't recall if I explicitly called Mario a moron at any point (although I did call Sarah Palin one, because she believes that the pledge of allegiance was written by the founding fathers). I don't really consider Mario a moron per se, I consider him a sleazy liar who can't possibly believe some of the nonsensical leaps in logic he uses to smear (uniformly) Democratic candidates and politicians.

If he actually does believe that, for example, Martin Heinrich supports driving while impaired because someone who endorsed him once hired an employee who was accused but not convicted of DWI (which is an accusation he has made) then yes, he is indeed a moron and so is anyone who agrees with him. Sorry if that hurts his/your feelings.

Gravatar Dan, I enjoy what you have to say. Just be respectful of folks. No biggie. Mario isn't a sleazy lair. He believes differently than you, that is what this county is about.

Civil discourse, a lost art!

Gravatar On the subject of Sarah Palin, can any of you Republicans/Conservatives make a rational argument for the abstinence-only sex education stance that she takes (and which is part of the official GOP platform)? It certainly has been, by any measure, and abject failure at preventing teen pregnancy. I've found myself wondering how anyone can support it for any reason beyond the purely puritanical.

Gravatar I'm glad to see Mario endorsing Obama's position. Obama said of Bristol Palin's pregnancy:
"''This shouldn't be part of our politics, it has no relevance to Governor Palin's performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president, and so I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories,'' Obama told reporters."

Gravatar I think Obama is endorsing Mario's position

Gravatar As long as we're lovin' up on Mario, I for one appreciate his gargantuan balls!
His is one of the most open blogs for public comment in the state from both the Right or Left whether anyone agrees with him or not.
He is also not afraid to bring controversy to discussion with his topics.
That is more than I can say about the coward of bloggers like Monahan with no open forum. Lately, DEM for NM has broached no issue for discussion. Lately it has served as only an event board. I hope Barb is just a bit tired from the convention. The other blogs restrict access so much, I can not leave a comment.
I don't agree with a damn thing you say, but I respect you Mario.

Gravatar Mario please explain to these guys, who seem to be in full melt down panic, that the VP is an unimportant, dead end job that doesn't effect the election. I mean putting a nobody from Alaska, and especially a..a..a woman on the ticket for a nothing job is surely no big deal for these totally non-partisan and obviously politically savy comentators. They should just take a deep breath and say..Sarah Palin is a nobody..Sarah Palin won't hurt me...I'm not really afraid of strong women...like Sarah Palin. Oh and Mario tell these guys that George Bush is not on the ballot but Oh no! Sarah Palin is.

Gravatar john?: The reason Bush is still an issue is because both McCain and especially Palin still fully support all his disastrous economic policies and his pointless wars that do nothing but waste our taxpayer dollars and make us less safe. Just FYI.

Its funny seeing the GOP returning to their old tactic of accusing the Dems of being tax & spend liberals when they've increased federal budget by more than two times in Bush's seven incompetent years in office and McCain is only willing to denounce the petty few million dollar earmarks while enthusiastically supporting the trillions pissed down the drain in Iraq to no benefit whatsoever

Trillions.
