I would support a sports center in Albuquerque if there was a proven need, but the idea of 'build it and they will come' is an expensive gamble.
I would be more likely to attend if it were somewhere on the I-25 corridor with easy access.
By the way what became of Richardson's dream of a NFL franchise in NM?

Gotta love ol' Marty. I attended an event where Marty was speaking about making Abq more bikable. I love bikes. But I heard Marty say, and I quote "I don't care how much it costs." So for as much as I am in favor of anything, I don't particularly admire a fellow that lives with his hands in other peoples pockets making the remark... "I don't care how much it costs".
On Civic plaza I noticed, get this, a solar powered trash can. I wonder how much that baby cost? But hey money is no object when you live with your hands in other peoples pockets.
It is not amusing when these Dems presume to know pork barrel when they see it ... and then something like sappy when they purport to despise it. Sick.

Glad to see you're not following the GOP party line that today has to be the day for attacking Democrats for being insufficiently enthusiastic about the Iraq War and pretending said war has anything to do with 9/11 Mario.
You're right skab, it takes a Republican like John McCain to know a stupid and pointless earmark when he sees it:
"We're not going to spend $3 million of your tax dollars to study the DNA of bears in Montana," McCain has said during this year's campaign, referring to a study he's mocked for years of whether grizzlies need to keep their status as an endangered species."
"Palin, meanwhile, has requested $3.2 million to be spent in part researching the "genetics of harbor seals," in one of the state's many requests for federal funding of research into Alaska’s fauna."
