I agree that SCOTUS got it right on gun control for once. The language of the 2nd amendment is painfully clear: "The right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed."

I'm disappointed that some of the more left leaning Justices didn't sign on or at least write a separate opinion concurring. The outcome really should have been 6-3 or 7-2.

Scalia's tortured logic on keeping automatic weapons illegal is pretty embarrassing for the Republic though. I guess that's to be expected from a guy who cited the TV show "24" in his dissent on Hamdi.

Gravatar But don't worry, McCain would never flip flop on any issue. Especially something like torture.

Gravatar Dude, come on. The decision was 5-4. That is literally as divided as the Supreme Court could possibly be. ANYONE, arguing either for or against the constitutionality of this particular law would be in the good company of either 4 or 5 Supreme Court justices, respectively. Yet you seek to portray Obama as way out in left field on the issue. Please...

As a Democrat / NRA member, I have some great news: Gun control is no longer a viable political issue. We won. Years ago. This is more properly understood as a case of cities' rights vs the federal government (whose gun restrictions remain in place).

Gravatar The East gjost Democrat is correct...Democrats are not going to bring up gun control as a main campaign issue and will not try to inact any laws(of course some urban representatives from NY will always support it because they are representing people who want it)

Another example of the Republicans only campaign strategy of scaring people and trying to pass their ignorant fears onto the rest of us....Let me guess the next thign that will be said "Obama is not a christian, but actually a muslim" FEAR FOR YOUR LIVES!!!
