Gravatar We don't need more laws. Instead, we need more leaders like Tom Taylor.

But since we don't have them;
I'll take more laws!

Gravatar Good sense and a lack of time have prevented me commenting earlier, but I can't help myself. So here's a slapdash version of what I can assure you was a fascinating, unbeatable argument for ethics legislation. Unbeatable I tell you!

Anyway, perhaps our difference here Mario is that our view of human nature differs somewhat. My view is that a great, great majority of people suddenly given the power that comes with becoming a legislator (other high-level government official) would eventually be corrupt in a enforcement-free environment, just as the great, great majority of people would speed on the highway if all law enforcement were to go away.

Maybe your percentage (i.e. faith in humanity) is higher. I'm guessing 5%,tops, would stay ethical. Absolute tops. Probably more like 2%. Of course I include myself in that number. Of course.

And nothing about the current system really encourages that 2-5% to pursue a career in politics. Instead we encourage those smart enough to see there's no enforcement. So instead we tend to get the other, larger percentage of folks who are unscrupulous enough to join in for unscrupulous reasons. Who speed even with law enforcement (and I curse these people daily).

Okay, enough blathering....

Gravatar No question. Tom Taylor is a class act. Ask anyone in Santa Fe. He is someone of any party affiliation that should be emulated.
