I sense I'm missing something here: Are you against an equestrian center entirely, or just questioning the location? If it's the latter, why is one location preferable to another?

But do take heart; when it comes to 'restless' governors with DC stars in their eyes and energy based budget shortfalls, it could be worse:

Gravatar Surprisingly, and I say that because Cocoposts and I are not usually on the same page, Cocoposts provides the best answer to your question:

"The Governor and others have said they are trying to promote equestrian and agricultural arts. Such arts are not exactly booming in popularity. As I've said before, building additional facilities wouldn't change that."

Gravatar Thanks, I see your point now.

Gravatar Horse play is extremely expensive and it is an occupation of the rich. Rodeo is entrenched in our culture but equestrian center? Is it for rodeo? It would be cheaper to bring back the chicken fights. OOPS. The chicken fights are not an activity of rich folks just for the local Hispanics? Richardson is kissin' those rich people's butts when we are fixin' to go into depression.
When we are are really poor and hungry, we will have to do something with all those backyard roosters.

Gravatar This is just a thinly veiled first step to moving the state fair to that location - Bill's buddies have been wanting to do that since before he even got into office.

Gravatar Obama has answered our plea.
