This is hilarious. You're actually going to try to blame the Economy's downward spiral on Congress? Whose economic policy was it that intentionally drastically weakened the US Dollar? You realize that that is the cause of most of our economic problems, right?

Which administration initiated two simultaneous wars (one of them illegally) and was surprised when it had a detrimental effect on our military both personnel-wise and equipment-wise? Which administration initiated a corporate style "down-sizing" of the military prior to 9/11 and then did nothing to reverse that policy after two simultaneous invasions?

Its true that political pandering is holding up the KC-45 (because it is manufactured by Airbus rather than Boeing) but this pandering is certainly not limited to the Democratic side of the aisle.

As for the fighter acquisition, the AF is requesting upwards of 300 F-22's which we simply don't need. The bulk of the fighter/attack planes in the US arsenal (F-16's, F/A-18's, and the strike variant F-15's) will be replaced by the much cheaper Joint Strike Fighter, which, while not quite as dominant in the air superiority role as the F-22, is still better than any other fighter in the world. The AF will probably only get 150 or so F-22s and that is more than enough unless Bush/McCain somehow manage to get us into simultaneous wars with China and Russia.

The fact is, the AF wouldn't have gotten its full F-22 wishlist order even if the GOP had veto proof majorities in both chambers of Congress.

I'm also curious who you think is going to start a world war type conflict with the US. China will never do so because it would be committing economic (and military) suicide. Russia simply does not have the military power to attempt it. You realize that the US's military budget is still larger than the next five military budgets in the world combined, right?

In summary, you're full of shit.

Well thats a well thought out argument above, and hard to overcome.

The government is so far from providing entitlements to everyone so they can all live in wealth is not happeneing anytime soon.

As for social security....most people in the second half of their lives don't get the chance to marry the heiress to a multi-billion dollar alcohol empire(...Mcsame...); so they need the small social security check hey get to buy *some* food and *some* medication.

Our military gets plenty ofmoney. What needs to happen is a shift from providing private companies with all the money the air force should be getting. I am sure the at least 9 billion dollars the republicans have lost...lost...in Iraq alone would have been more than enough.

Oh and not oever ectending all the equipment we have in Iraq so we dont have to pay some private contractor to *sort of* fix them or *sort of* build new ones.

Gravatar How much money has McCain taking from those that surround Airbus?

Gravatar "Throw into the mix," indeed. So the measure of a future president's economic policy is New Mexico's per capita income relative to neighboring states? Let's see, according to the chart: Carter: FAIL, Reagan: FAIL, Bush I: FAIL, Clinton: FAIL, Bush II: FAIL. That's an odd metric; one wonders what they would think in Texas or Colorado should some president be imprudent enough to pass such a test.

One also wonders what the Democratic congress did to bring about recession / stagflation. Raise taxes? Devalue the dollar? Write down hundreds of billions of downgraded CDOs? Do tell. Which of these escaped cloture in the Senate? Presumably that 6 year Republican spending spree deserves more than a quick gloss.

Some guy in the Air Force (presumably a crack macro-economist) believes there is some type of conflict between SS & Medicare, which are financed through a dedicated payroll tax, and the general fund? I would like to learn more about this novel theory...

And no, the coming wars will not be won with expensive, 20th century air power, regardless of what the Air Force so desperately wishes to be true in their quest to square off against the Soviet menace of the 1950s and 1960s. The use of such hardware in modern, 4G warfare is actually rather counterproductive. Think swarms of cheap, networked UAVs...
