Kind of reminds me when Bush got 300+ Million Americans to pay for a couple thousand of his buddies to get rich(er) by invading Iraq.

There, are we at hyperbole equilibrium now?

Look at what is happening now in Iraq, they want the U.S. out which is a good thing.

Bless the soldiers work there and they have accomplished much.

War profiteering was not the reason we went over to Iraq, we are fighting over there so we don't have to fight here.

Sadly people don't want to see that.

Who is it you imagine that we would be fighting here? You realize that 99% of the "terrorists" in Iraq were created by our illegal invasion of Iraq, right?

Do you really think that invading Iraq at a cost of between one and three trillion dollars is something that Bin Laden *didn't* want us to do? All it did was weaken us both military and financially while raising his profile in the Muslim world.

In other words, when we invaded Iraq, Al-Qaeda won.

"War profiteering was not the reason we went over to Iraq"

It may not have been the reason (the reasons thought up are more than we can count) to go to occupation, but what has been done about it?? It has been happening for four years and what has this administration done about enforcing LAWS and saving taxpayer's money??? NOTHING.

As a matter of fact they have fired people in he military who have spoken up about this stuff...not war profiteering you say, obviously people dont want to see that.

People have seen the reasons Conservatives gave for going to war and they have all been soundly rejected, not ignored.

Gravatar Gosh, I thought this was to be a discussion about a trolley, not the Iraq disaster.

Burgos is correct, the trolley and similar tax-the-citizens schemes are always highly recommended by consultants. These same "planning experts" [please recall the wonders of Stalin's 5-year 'plans'] have a great love affair with rail traffic. Rail is great in areas of high population density, which leaves out Albuquerque. Buses are far more flexible; the only disadvantage is the higher fuel cost. However, the capital cost of this light rail system is ridiculously high [and we absolutely know that the actual capital cost will be substantially higher]. I'd like to call this system a white elephant, but it is not clear that it would be as useful.
