Richardson "health plan" is not about having access to health care. It is about covering everyone with insurance. Everyone in New Mexico has access to health care via the subsized care provided by the New Mexico Health Department. Your tax dollars are spent by the millions on rural clinics, state employee health care and institutions like UNMH. No one is turned away from these health care institutions for lack of money. In addition, the non-profit hospitals provide millions and millions of dollars in care that is written off because non-payment of the bill.

So access to health care is not the issue. The issue is that Governor Richardson believes he can spend your dollars and make better decisions then you can as an individual.

When the question about covering all New Mexico residents with health insurance brought up, no one is asking the simple question? Why do we need it? What is next?
