Mario,
How about that Republican absentee voter fraud case in Chaves County.
You potray yourself as being so concerned about voter fraud in this state and yet you have said nothing. Have you sent an e-mail to the acting US Attorney for further investigations in Chaves County since it was the wife of a Republican politician that did the fraud? I'm guessing not. You only wish to supress the vote where Democtats outperform Republicans. How about some honesty from you.

Gravatar Mario you are either ignorant or you are outright lying.
You sound jealous that Patricia Madrid has landed on her feet with a well paid and prestigious job.

1. Heather Wilson has used 100's of thousands of taxpayer dollars worth of free franking every year. It is a privilege of high office.

2. Including what Heather spent, over 10 million dollars were spent on her behalf for the '06 race. There were national independent expenditures on Heather's campaign. These independents included interests from oil and gas, military contractors, and pharmaceutical companies.
As a matter of fact, more money was spent by Republicans on the Madrid-Wilson race '06 than any other Republican congressional race in the entire nation. So much money was diverted to the NM congressional race by the Republican Congressional Committee that they starved the races in Pennsylvania. The 3 congressional seats won by Dems in Pennsylvania could very well be in large part due to the money draining Republican resources on the NM race. In a way you could say that Heather retained her seat by a squeaker while at the same time contributing to the Republican loss of the House.

3.The Republican Congressional Committee did spend more money on the '06 race than the Democratic Congressional committee.

Gravatar qofdisks,

Patricia is an idiot and she proved it in the debate. She lost, get of it.

Gravatar Patricia Madrid showed great effort against Wilson last fall. She barely lost the race; a seat that Wilson was getting to comfortable in. Fact is, Madrid lost because she did not have enough votes. Mr. Burgos has pointed out the factual numbers in the campaign finances of both parties. I watched a video of one of the debates over the internet and it was not the bad DSL connection I had that made Madrid sound, well, a bit naggy; we all know that is not a quality debate skill. It is May now and Madrid has lost. The Democrats need to quit crying about their one loss and look forward to keeping their one party system in New Mexico that has not been corrupted one bit during their long tenure.

In philosophy seminar this week my class was discussing how those who have had power to long, only work to maintain that power and not for the people's common good.

Hey Dems get over it? UHMMMM... if I am not mistaken, Mario brought it up.
I just replied to his points.

Garcia you think a hesitation in debate over a stupid question is some criteria for intelligence. This makes me question your intelligence and pettiness of mind.

Gravatar gofdisks

one sec let me clear my throat... hhhmmhmm... It was that Dem blogger and Madrid who initialy brought it up. Mr. Burgos was responding to their false assertions. So you are mistaken and stand corrected, by a 19 year old.

Gravatar Mario, If every journalist asked every obvious follow up question bloggers would have nothing to bitch about. When I think of journalists who are not very good at follow up I think of Tim Russert. The Vice Current Occupant has conflated the initial invasion of Iraq with 9/11 since--well--9/11. So I see where you are coming from. Just remember that it probably has more to do with not being quick enough than partisanship. Or it could be they have a set of questions to ask and limited time. But breaking JM's chops because he didn't ask the questions you would have asked seems disingenuous at best. The press has given Heather a lot of breaks reference many inconsistencies and opportunistic changes of heart she's seems to have as election time rolls around.

MY POINT: The press always gives "the other sides" candidate/official a break. At least it appears that way at a glance.

If JM is blogging then why would you expect him to be non-partisan? Does he claim to be reporting on the facts with no commentary? I know the difference between a blog and a news story. Are you saying we are stupid and can't figure that out? No! So what is your point?

Gravatar David, Yes, JM claims to be reporting the straight up facts. That's my whole problem with him. If he just admitted he has an anti-Heather bias, I would leave him alone. I read several Democratic blogs, but at least they are all upfront about where they are coming from in their commentary.

Gravatar Mario, why do you continue to ignore the Republican absentee fraud case? Is this why the Republicans have dominated the absentee vote?

Gravatar Anonymous,

I don't have to write about the Chaves County incident, or ask the U.S. Attorney to get involved, because, surprise, surprise, it was actually prosecuted:

The wife of a Chaves County commissioner has made a plea bargain with the district attorney in a voter-fraud case.

Diane Taylor has agreed to pay a $6,000 fine and serve two years probation.

She was accused of voting the absentee ballots of her three sons during last June’s Republican primary election. The crime is a felony.

Gee, what a novel idea - prosecuting felonies. Good thing, David Iglesias hadn't been the District Attorney in Chaves County.

Gravatar Mario,
That may be the only real case of voter fraud with actual evidence, since fraudulent votes where cast. It seemed to me you Republicans could only come up with problems with registrations but no attempts to cast fraudulent votes.
Again is this why Republicans have done so well with absentee balloting? Is this why Republicans have made no attempts to make chages to the absentee ballot proceedure?
Mario, don't you think it is time to end absentee balloting as it exists today? I don't think people normally get caught the first time.
Oh BTW Iglesias recieved more pats on the back from people in the DOJ again this week. I think his real record is coming out despite the attempts by people like you to disparage him.
