Gravatar Mario,
Very good point about "lexicon of any politician." When I hear the President say, "We're making progress" in Iraq I can only think of my four family members who have made seven deployments to that mess. So the next time the chickenhawk right wingers get on their high horse they need to remember they have the right to call me a "cut and run liberal" because I and many other liberals were willing to take a bullet for them. However, I digrees. This exercise of Republicans eating their own is quite entertaining. The pattern I see, is similar to "heckuva a job, Brownie." Like Mr Brown, Iglesias was doing a great job until he wasn't doing such a great job. Then of course he was screwing up the entire time! So once again we see the Prez appointing someone who has no business being in the job!

This is all blowing up in the face of the Republicans in the Executive Branch because they have not been forthcoming about ANYTHING in this matter. The rubber stamp Congress is gone! Now these guys, DoJ, White House, all have to answer questions.

Whitney says politics, like football, is a full contact sport. WRONG! Basketball is a full contact sport, football is a collision sport. The Republican White House just collided with a true co-equal branch of government run by Democrats and they will be answering questions. No more dissembling. No more obfuscation. No more lies. Or Scooter is going to have a few familiar cell mates. Subpoena power can be a bitch.

Gravatar When people of both parties start to put the country ahead of their respective party these type of things may stop.
What bothers me most about the current scandle is how much the opposing party is enjoying it.

Mike

Gravatar Mike,

I make NO APOLOGIES for being entertained by the spectacle of the high and mighty being brought to their knees. Every heard of schadenfreude?

Gravatar David thanks for making my point.
Mike

Gravatar Enjoying it? I am on the left but I want the best for my state.
Having our powerful senior Senator crippled by this scandal cripples the entire state.
Our state also relies heavily on Wilson as our Rep to bring home the bacon as well.

NO

This is not a good thing.
It is not good for our state of NM.

This is going to have the result of relegating our two previously respected and powerful congressional rep rendered ineffectual as tainted AND in the minority party.
People being gleeful about this are obtuse. It is like kicking yourself when you are down.
My disgust is unbounded.

Gravatar qofdisks,

I put the welfare of my family members sent to an unnecessary war ahead of "bacon" for the home front. My brothers and I spent thousands of dollars to provide proper body armor for two of our young men. Damn right I want Domenici and Wilson to pay a price for every misstep. This is not just politics for me. Its personal.

Gravatar Wilson and Dominici should step down and resign. Rove and Gonzales should step down and resign. Bush and Cheney should step down and resign. I'm not a Democrat or a Republican, I'm just a very pissed off American citizen.
We have a nookular target on our back. The Government is bankrupt, The Army is broken, The Treasury looted. We the people need to form a new Government, but the Tyrant's appeasers would start a civil war.

Gravatar I wouldn't say that the government is broken gov. Richardson is just distracted along with the state legislature saving chickens, and blowing millions on trains and building space ports for billionaires is waste full but not really looting. Now our president has has achieved a booming economy, low unemployment ,low taxes and and our volenteer hero militaty is killing the bad guys where they live so they can't kill Americans here, we lost two buildings they lost two countries as bases. Now this really annoys the "small package" guys who just know that they could be heros if Mr. Cheney just wasn't so mean and stop snickering at them. Ms.reno and Pres. Clinton can fire all 93 U.S. Attorneys( and burn a few kids) but it's ok (Carter didn.t, Reagan didn't and Bush Didn't) and hey no problem, strand and abandon American troops to be masscared in Somali by people they were there to feed and convice Osama bin Laden that the U.S. didn't have the will to defend itself which was true with Pres. Clinton as he was busy with his cigar. So the deal is not what's being done but who is doing it, if you have the MSM and agendaized left of every size and shape to set a "meme" ignore all facts and pound away then you can eventually get the dim wits that still watch Katie and cnn to believe damn near anything for example Al (hey fool, I mean you stop using oil and gas not me ) Gore. Hey just go out side take adeep breath it's a great day a great country just don't believe everthing you think.

Gravatar When I was in highschool the unemployment rate was well above 10%. Reagan had been elected but things hadn't quite turned around yet. The prospect of university and employment and ever having anything at all *ever* was the reality we lived. We couldn't see any hope for ourselves.

Now the economy is good and the employment rate is about as low as it's possible to get. But somehow people just got to be depressed or they don't feel right. It's *intelligent* to be all dark and gloomy because it means you don't have those rose colored glasses and that naive optimism that plague the less enlightened.

If when things were *bad* they weren't as bad as we thought, what are the chances that when things are *good* that they are really bad? Somehow.
