And, what's this nonsense about limiting profitability of insurance providers? Someone please remind Governor Richardson that it's still legal in America to make a profit. In fact, it - the free enterprise system - is one of the cornerstones of our democracy.
Nowhere in the Declaration of Independence or anywhere in the U.S. Constitution is the word "profit" mentioned.

My plan requires that at least 85-percent of premiums must be spent directly on care
Our public programs already require this--private insurers must do the same.
These two statements are so bogus on so many counts it is laughable and it shameful that our press did not call him on it. For instance
1. What premiums are used to support public health programs, none you either qualify or you don’t.
2. State employees who support public health programs are paid for through taxes not premiums.
3. The state does not care nor do they track what the actual administrative cost are of private health care providers who support public programs such as Medicaid they just cap what they are going to pay for health coverage.
4. Administration and regulatory cost of public programs such as Medicaid is twice that of private insurance covered programs. That is why many private health providers refuse to take Medicaid because they refuse to spread the actual cost not covered by the state across their private insured clients.

A couple of years ago I picked up a hitchhiker up north of Pueblo or so. Got to talking, you know how that goes. This hitchhiker, was telling me about his buddy who has unquestionable credibility because he is a teacher. This teacher buddy of his told him all about the Tesla, which is a free source of energy that the energy companies are suppressing information on. Free energy! All you have to do is pass a wire close to the ground and because of the earth's magnetic field it will generate free energy.
I guess Richardson's state of the state, where it mentions energy reminded me of that hitchhiker. Only how come those dopers are willing to pay more for the "free" energy. Know what I mean? Utility company says for just five dollars extra, I can get energy from a windmill. But if it is free why does it cost more. See if you can get the dopers to figure that one out.
I think these companies that are selling Green energy are the Enron of the new millinium. They claim that their energy comes from windmills, but really, it doesn't. It comes from the grid. When you push them with that, they hedge by telling you that otherwise they buy "credits" that compensate for whenever they are ... lying. They learned a lot from Al Gore... a lie is ok... as long as it is for a noble cause. ... or if you hate Bush.
