Is this really the best thing you can come up with Mario? Voting against condemning a town in a foreign country for naming a street after someone whose conviction was and still is highly controversial?

Man your party is going to get absolutely slaughtered in November if the best you can come up with is these continued petty snipes and out of context or outright wrong attacks.

Why don't you tell us why we should vote for Pearce instead of why we shouldn't vote for Udall? It would be nice to hear a Rove Republican like yourself actually praise your candidate for once instead of trying to tear down the opposition.

Gravatar Mumia Abu-Jamal is rehabilitated.
He has proven himself to be a productive member of society even behind bars.
He is a great black author inspiring young black kids to look deeper than material wealth for fulfillment. He has done much to inspire pride and self-respect for our young citizens. I consider him a political prisoner.
I hope that Obama pardons him and Lenard.
Punitive solutions never work. Rehabilitation is the long term solution. As much as our justice system strays from mercy and hope, the more of a failure it will be.
Soul on Ice.

Gravatar Mario, are you kidding me? Is this the best you can do?

I realize just how sad and pitiful you must feel as a republican in 2008. I sympathize with you, but your loneliness has started to manifest in some pretty bizarre ways. Get out. Grab a latte. Meet some peeps. Let it go.

Gravatar I was in Philly when this matter was working its way through the legal system. The evidence that Mumia Abu-Jamal murdered a police officer and stole a father and husband from an innocent family was overwhelming. The conviction has withstood years of legal and political attacks. Why should a street be named after a murderer? Why would Udall not object to honoring a man who murdered a policeman?

I didn't know about this before. I would like an explanation from Mr. Udall before I jump to conclusion.

Gravatar Democrats take your ignorant masks off and come out into the light of day. Never mind the propriety of the vote which Mario attacked. You've just convinced me that you have no regard for the public servants who are torn apart by guns or knifes.

Mumia Abu-Jamal a political prisoner? How inane and insane. The man has no soul and neither does anyone who buys into his so-called rehabilitation.

You folks need to inject some insecticide into your heads so the brain weevils will exit.

Udon't has done precious little for the police. Period. And he has done next to nothing for his constituents. I hope he gets his panties beat off in the forthcoming race.

Oh, "is this the best you can do," is quite worn out, Dan and Cara.

Gravatar Why would Udall not object to honoring a man who murdered a policeman?

Uhm, because it's St Denis, France, that's doing the honoring? I'm not really sure, but I do believe that France is a whole 'nother country, and they've got that sovereignty stuff, and it's really none of our business whom they decide to name their streets after.

I know that our Congress has a lot of important things to consider, and I'm sure that for many Republicans the question of street names in France is right up there at the top of the priority list, but somehow it just doesn't seem that important to me. It's one of those issues that's full of sound and fury, a tale told by a Republican, signifying nothing.

Gravatar "Uhm, because it's St Denis, France, that's doing the honoring? I'm not really sure, but I do believe that France is a whole 'nother country, and they've got that sovereignty stuff, and it's really none of our business whom they decide to name their streets after. "

Exactly, instead of Republicans ACTUALLY supporting law enforcement and the military by you know raising their wages, and ummmm updating the GI BIll to allow for more education they like to bring up STUPID bills about streets in FRANCE.

This issue is so stupid and the more irresponsible thing is whoever wrote/cosponsored this bill and wasted any time in congress talking about it.

Gravatar Udall could have voted "present." Or skipped the vote to do something for his constituents. Since he actually bothered to take the time to vote, why did he vote "no" as one of only 31 members of the house to oppose an action to honor a man who killed a police officer and father in cold blood? I would like to hear Udall's explanation.

Gravatar Wow Jim your big "conversion" from the GOP to the Democratic party didn't even last til the actual election season did it?

Fully assuming Mumia's guilt I would also vote against bills like this because they are:

1) Political stunts used to try to score political points at the expense of very real issues.

2) A waste of taxpayer money - the money we the people are paying these idiots to "represent" us.

Frankly I remain eternally appalled that *anyone* votes for bullshit like this, and so should you as an alleged libertarian.

Gravatar Udall could have voted "present."

Very true.

Or he could have sponsored a bill authorizing the use of military force to bring regime change to France. We know they have nuclar weapons, and I'm sure they've mistreated someone, and they might even have oil.

I know that many Republicans think that whenever they see someone doing something they don't like they should get Congress to pass a law against it. They figure we can never have enough laws against things.

But really, sometimes you have to just let other countries make their own decisions. That's democracy, and France has Democracy. It's messy, and sometimes they'll name streets after people you don't like.

But being a grown-up means that you let other people (and other countries) make their own choices. It means that when someone tries something asinine such as passing a bill in Congress condemning some town in France's choice of street names, the grown-up thing to do is to vote "no.
