The reason that this infrastructure has not been put in place is because the Democrat Leadership does not want to let the public see what goes on during a Legislative secession. Why do you think that Speaker Ben Lujan habitually schedules controversial issues after 7PM? The reason is simple the press has left the Roundhouse for the day to go meet their deadlines.

Does your TV not get the news at 10 PM everynight? While it is abhorrent they don't broadcast/webcast live, with the 24/7 newscycle anyone can cover anything at anytime.

At the risk of repeating myself;
what more proof do you need that you have lost your control over power and resources that are fundamentally your own;
than when public servants refuse to let you know what they are doing with them?
Since when does the concept of public servitude not include the obligation of the servant to obey the master and to answer the master's (legitimate) questions about their public servitude?

The problem is that the news does not return after 5:30PM and cover the significant legislation this is debated on the Senate and House floor starting at 7PM. So that news is not covered on the 10 PM news shows, in fact it rarely if ever gets reported.

The news doesnt always report the news, if you know what I mean. They report what they choose to report.

Cameras on OUR public Property is always fine. They should be glad we aren't putting cameras in their offices at the roundhouse too.
And I am a member of the Democrat-IC party by the way.

The ethics situation is a complicated mess. Our "citizen" legislature has had a salary proposal turned down over the years. As a result they have exempted themselves from many of the accountability efforts of the last four decades. So it is a "which came first--the chicken or the egg" situation.
Being a legislator is a lot of work and goes uncompensated. The Legislative Sessions are only 30 and 60 days but the Interim Committees meet monthly year around and if you are on a minimum of five committee that is another 60 day and a half day meetings.
So New Mexico probably needs a Constitutional Convention to decide whether or not it wants to pay for ethics and a mores responsive legislature.
