Invitations aren't needed for that event -- you just go. It would have meant driving to Santa Fe yesterday, which might have been exciting. We decided to go to the Bernalillo County officials swearing in at the District Courthouse instead, which was nice too. No bands or dancers, though.

Or you could have gone to the Land Commissioner's event at the State Land Office. He's a Repub, so you might have been more comfortable there.

I believe in accountability in the education system. Teachers in NM need an increase in pay. What other field of work pays 40k or less for a Masters degree other than teaching? This is a thanks less job. Maybe accountability needs to start with the parents. Everyone wants the kids to succeed, but do not blame the teachers blame the parents. This is not a Republican or Democrat issue, it is a community issue.

We did a unilateral pay raise just a couple of years ago, and have seen absolutely no return on our investment. Instead of another across the board pay increase, we should do a pay for performance pay structure, and those who do not perform should be gently guided toward another profession.

Pay for performance in a job is more subjective than objective.
Why not increase pay, it might help the teacher shortage. Or let the rich get richer and not pay the real working people what they deserve.
Again, parents need to take responsibility for their children.
