I didn't see you quite as outraged about the questioning of Tom Udall's son-in-law when he was appointed to oversee the election by Richardson. Why is that?

Gravatar The "appearance of a conflict" is unacceptable.

Even if that is truly the end of it. Because the next question is; how do you know that, that is truly the end of it?

The appearance of a conflict of interest does its own damage.

Some number of people have less confidence in the process, now that an appearance of a conflict of interest has been established.

Would it really have been that hard to deal with the issue above the board?

Gravatar I'm still waiting for you to apologize for questioning Jim Noel's integrity in your August 28th blog entry Mario. I'm sure it'll be up in a jiffy right?

Gravatar Not going to happen.

Gravatar To sum up: Jim Noel has no integrity because he's Tom Udall's son-in-law even though he refused the post he was appointed to to avoid the appearance of impropriety.

Darren White's employees have oodles of integrity because... they're cops and lord knows cops are never corrupt.

Good one Mario.

Gravatar Dan,

You're on thin ice here. There are plenty of times I think you have good reason to question my rationale on any variety of issues. Indeed, I look forward to reading your comments. But, this isn't one of those times.

Jim Noel was given a high-paying government job because he is Tom Udall's son-in-law. It was the wrong job to take because it would have put him in a position of power over an election in which his father-in-law is a candidate. The backlash was rightfully severe, and to his credit, he turned down the job.

Sheriff's deputies already have their jobs, and they do them well. Election after election they have safeguarded those who are transporting the ballots. They have no control over the process other than to safeguard those people. To insinuate they would put those people's lives in danger to benefit an election is an insult to everyone who wears a uniform.

Based on your numerous well thought out responses to my posts, I don't think you're foolish enough to make that insinuation. If I'm wrong, then I've sadly misjudged your character and your intelligence.
