Gravatar So what your saying Mario is you want us tax payers and those of us with health insurance to continue to supplement the profits of business such as Giant, Circle K, 7Eleven and Diamond Shamrock. How about restaurants like Taco Bell, McDonalds, Burger King, and Pizza Hut.
I could continue to list businesses that have their uninsured workforce flood our Emergency Rooms for their healthcare needs while we end up getting the bill.
That is the problem with your Republican Party, you offer no solutions. The system is broken and only the Democrats are willing to try to fix. That is why the majority of Americans trust the Democratic Party to handle the problems that America faces from Health Care to Taxes. From Education to the War in Iraq. Your party is becoming more out of touch with rest of us.

Gravatar Fred, the "health care solutions bill" bill does nothing for access to health care.

Read the Wall Journal regarding the ill concieved Mass. Health Care plan. Everyone in MaSS. has health insurance yet, the legislation did nothing to increase access. So trying seeing a doctor in MA, there is a long wait time.

Everyone wants health care for free. Let the business community pay for it. But the cost increases would continue forever. Under the current system, at least the individual businesses know how much their health insurance is going to cost.
There is a defined cost of the system and the individual business person can budget for it.
If the cost goes up too high then the business can change providers, impose cost controls or co-payments.

Under the "Health Care Solutions Plan" the cost could forever go up and most likely would go up forever, given that the legislature is providing the benefits. It costs nothing for the legislature to increase the benefits so they would.

The current system is working in a wierd sort of way. The market stangely works. Why should the government buy everyone health insurance? Whats next life insurance, car insurance, apartment insurance...

It would never end.

Gravatar Are you kidding me Frank? The market doesn't work. There are over 45 million Americans without health insurance. So save that for the fools that listen to right wing radio and can't think for themselves.
Health Care cost have grown year after year in the US under the current system and there is no end in sight to what the cost could go up in our current market system.
Compare the system in Japan to that in the US. Japan has a requirement for health insurance and subsidies those that can't afford it. The also put caps on cost. The result is lower cost. Compare what they spend in comparison to their GNP to what we pay in US.
Only a fool would think the current system work and a bigger fool would think the market system will fix itself.
I don’t mean to insult, but wake up, most of America has. If you want solutions and ideas don’t forget to vote Democratic in the fall. If you want more of the same when it comes to the problems facing most Americans then vote Republicans.
BTW most business are not budgeting for health insurance, they just don't provide it. Why should I, as a tax payer and health insurance payer, continue to pay for their employees health care when the business is not even willing to pay part of the costs.

Gravatar Fred, anytime you have a free good there will be more demand for that free good than supply.

Look at who is pushing for health insurance for all? Health insurance not health care or assess to health care...Health insurance. The people that don't want to pay for it...

Yes, your taxes are paying for health care solutions for those who don't have health insurance so the solution is to increase your taxes to pay for health insurance for everyone..Brilliant. And with your golden health insurance policy you currently have, you would be better off because now you have to compete for health care access with the newly insured...Brilliant

Having access to health care and having health insurance are too totally different issues. Go ahead support universal health insurance and do nothing to assist the supply side of the health care access equation and what will happen?

A New industry; health care for people that can pay a premium for timely health care. It is called the free market.

Lastly, if the "health care solutions act" is such a good deal for businesses why was it opposed by the business community?

Gravatar The argument from the right that because its free, people will abuse it. There will always be a small percentage that will abuse anything. There are already over 250 million people whose health care is covered and the majority already don't abuse it.
It is the 400,000 uninsured New Mexicans, that are talking to their Reps, who are pushing for something to be done. It is nearly unaffordable for most that don't have coverage. Bringing down the cost to those uninsured is the answer.
I guess you don't understand that in the long run we save money by helping to provide coverage to the uninsured. Now those people go to Emergency Rooms when their in major pain or in a critical point. What may have been a simple illness that could have been with a $50 doctors visit turn into $150,000 surgery do to kidney failure. Just ask a doctor about how many major illness could have been prevented if the doctor had treated the illness in its early stages. It is typical Republican shortsightedness.
We have a low unemployment rate in this state. The answer is to make those business that do not cover their employees help to cover them. Why are you so opposed to these business paying their fare share of running a business.
If you don't realize those without insurance are not already affecting healthcare try going to the Emergency room or Urgent Care. When I go to an Emergency Room, my bill reflects having to cover those without insurance. So like I said I am already paying a price for the uninsured, it would just be cheaper if they were insured.
You free market people are dreamers. The free market isn't working in New Mexico, we have nearly have half our population uninsured.
Why didn't businesses like this solution? They don't want to help pay for the healthcare of their employees, they would rather have the taxpayer cover the bill.

Gravatar Fred, do the numbers. If you say that 400 hundred thousand New Mexican's are without health insurance. There are 1.9 million folks in New Mexico. 200 hundred thousand are state/city/county employees. 150 thousand are federal government and retirees. So who is insuring all the rest of New Mexicans that have insurance. Businesses; 1.15 million people have their insurance paid for by business. So don't say they are not doing there share ..they are. They don't want to be taxed of existance.
