In my opinion democrats are very good at social programs and issues where civil rights are involved. I think they are weak in issues of security and energy. The democrats are comprised of special interest groups that are opposed to all types of energy except possibly solar. We need to diversify our energy source and use nuclear, wind, ethanol, fossil fuels and solar.

Does this mean that White and Pearce out of touch because even higher percentages of Americans disagree with them about the war in Iraq?
Really Mario one of these days you're going to have to think one of your idiotic little screeds out to its logical conclusion before you post it.

I believe the issue mentioned in this days blog is about oil, not the war in Iraq.

Actually, the DEMS are on the side of drilling for more oil where the oil companies already hold leases. It is the oil companies making profit by creating scarcity by not exploiting the leases they already possess.
The DEMS just tried to pass legislation called use it or lose it trying to force the oil co. to drill or lose the lease so someone else can drill.
The oil co. just want to tie up all the oil.

Actually Mike, if you look at the entry, the main thesis is that Udall and Heinrich are "out of touch with voters."
Interestingly, the war in Iraq that White and Pearce both support 100% is much more responsible for the rise in oil prices than the drilling ban (which, by the way, was put in place by George H W Bush and was supported by McCain until he flip-flopped on it last month.) Even the oil companies predict that fully exploiting ANWR and offshore reserves would only account for 1% of *domestic* oil use, which means about .2% of worldwide use. A .2% decrease in the cost of gas at $3.60 per would be 7 tenths of a cent per gallon. That is imagining that this increase in supply had a full and 100% direct effect on price and that other factors like transportation and refinement have no effect.
In reality of course, most of the oil we have domestically is not "light, sweet" crude and is much more expensive to refine into either diesel or gasoline than most Middle Eastern oil is. So lets conservatively knock off another 2 tenths of a cent price decrease.
Steve Pearce and Darren White want to further soil the environment so you pay half a cent less at the gas pump.

One assumes this to mean that Mario will henceforth adopt all positions supported by 59%+ of New Mexicans or Americans or label himself "out of touch" in each instance.
Right?
