Gravatar Mario,
Check out how they have been lowered to meet recruitment goals for the military because of the needs of the Iraq war.

Gravatar Hey, Mario and Fred Would you bar from employment as a police officer, all persons who are recreational smokers of home grown marijuana? Would you bar those who have no arrest record, but volunteer that in the past they have occasionally smoked marijuana? If so, I disagree, and ask where and when will this prohibition come to an end? Aren't 55 million felons in America enough, if their felonies are smoking the weed?

Gravatar Since I've never smoked tobacco I don't find pot to be something that everyone must have done at some time.

Even so, it seems like more things are felonies these days. My parents have a neighbor who is a felon. He pleaded no-contest (or something like that) and paid a fine for putting sand on his beach without a permit. He'd made some effort to do things legally and thought he had, so it was a mistake rather than him trying to get away with a crime. But no one told him it was a felony until after he'd accepted the charges against him and now he can't vote.

(This is the sort of person, if he wasn't a 70 year old grandpa, that can apply to the military to have a JAG lawyer go over his court records and approve him for an individual exception to the military disqualification for being a felon.)
