Hello there. I am Steven's mother, and I do no appreciate all the derogatory remarks being made towards my son, his family and his friends. I think if extremely unfair for whoever to write what they think is the story, when in fact, it is not the true story at all. "He should count himself lucky that he didn't end up dead". What a heartless remark.
This whole group of guys are nothing but a big bunch of teddy bears. Nobody could find a greater group of guys, believe me. To think that these guys were threatening this stripper, DWI recorded, drunk and most likely drug induced female is ridiculous, and really damaging to the character of these guys.
Yeah, it was a freak accident, and yes, I almost lost my son. But, the truth is that he refused disablity, went back to work too early which caused him to lose his job, his insurance and his way of life. He has a plate on his pelvis, had a punctured lung, has a messed up bladder for life, has many atrophied muscles in his body, has to eventually have plastice surgery to fix a massive destruction of muscles in his abdonminal area, has no feeling in his right foot for life, because nerve nodes got pulled from his spine, and has severe bouts of nerve pain. He has taken all this in a positive way, gone back to school, maintains a full time job, and enjoys his life. He refuses to go down in a negative way, and your remarks do just that. Just pray to God that you don't have anything like this ever happen to you, because then, you will know what we have all been through.
For your information, he did not want the money, it was never really his idea...all he wants is a why and an apology form the girl who hit him. Simple...she needs to be aware of what her actions did to him. Why don't you print the fact that she fled the scene of the accident, was never given a drug or alcohol test, and that she was witnessed laughing about hitting my son with her car while she was waiting to talk to the officers? Does that tell you something about her? She is not an innocent person in this.
Get your facts straight, and watch the hurtful, damaging things you say about people. May God Bless you.

Mrs. Jones,
Thank you for taking the time to leave your comment. I realize that there are always two sides to every story. The majority of what I write is personal opinion based on what I read or see in the news.
However, I do have children of my own (albeit young children), and I have no doubt that you are sharing your son's pain from this encounter. If I have in any way caused you more heartache, I do apologize - that was not my intent.
Overall, my comments were less about your son's actions than they were about our judicial system. If all your son really desired was an apology and to make the young woman aware of the consequences of her actions, he could have done so without bringing a lawsuit.
Every action has a consequence; however, legal action is becoming all too often the consequence of choice.
