Actually, you're wrong, the Richardson story did not run on the day LANL voluntary lay-off's were announced. Those were announced on Monday.
Udall commented on the LANL situation and it ran in many of Tuesday's papers (including the New Mexican) the Journal didn't run his comments.
So, your comment, as follows, is factually incorrect;
"On the day that it is announced that hundreds of people are going to lose their jobs, and that the economy of surrounding communities might be devastated, Congressman Udall's only comment to his constituents is regarding a comment made Governor Richardson earlier this month about his U.S. Senate race intentions"

You can blame Sen. Domenici for this mess. He could have slowly changed the mission during the past 15 years but he chose to suck up to voters, and do the easy thing.
In no way is Udall slapping the face of LANL workers. He wants a new mission, one that will actually last, without having to fight tooth and nail every year for money. Nukes are out, renewable energy is in. Udall is on the right path, Nuke supporters are flushing New Mexico down the drain.

Actually, it is Gary Johnson fault. Six years after he left office, the Richardson Admistration is still blaming him for all sorts of issues.
Why not this one.

I left out something in my blog post. It should have read, "On the day that it is announced in [the Albuquerque Journal]...
Despite this omission, the point remains the same. One day the front page above the fold talks about Los Alamos layoffs, the next day above the fold is Udall talking about Richardson not running.
I find that a strange set of priorities for a Congressman who sits on the Appropriations Committee of the House.

Hey people lose their jobs all the time in this era of global "free" trade. They're always told by the econ gurus to go get retrained. Why doesn't this apply here? Why should the federal government continue paying high salaries for services we no longer need?

Mario, I thought Republicans would rather cut spending than raise taxes? Should spending cuts take place in every other state than ours. New Mexico already receives a lot more federal dollars than the citizens pay in.
The mission of the Lab should have changed years ago. I don't think what they do now is money well spent. Wastefull tax dollars.
I don't recall hearing a whole lot of blame coming from this administation directed at Johnson. Just another BS post from Tom.
Marion how was the fund raising event in DC? Who was there? I thought you might post about it.

Fred, go to any legislative transportation hearing and hear the venom about the johnson administration.
Pete Rahn had an aggressive plan to build road without raising taxes by bonding future tax reciepts.
This admistration has used that bonding as an excusing consistantly to argue that they are where they are at because of the bonding. NEEDING MONEY
Now they are using the excuse of increased price of construction goods as the reason they need to raise even more money, not the railrunner which is the real reason.
Raising the weight distance tax, vehicle registration fees, new cab card requirements and license was not enough..they need more...
