I am squeezing mine and my husband's meals so I can afford the 85.00 fee for NMTech summer program for our son. It is only for 20 days of the summer which means I must find childcare money on top of my tuition this summer.
I will get no new shoes this summer but the boy will get the 12-15 dollar sandals at Walmart.
We are doin' ok. We could lose a few pounds and the shoes though worn, are still good.
We have the girls and boy's club for free childcare in Socorro but the kids are a bit rough and it is a good place to catch a disease. Two hours a day oughta toughen the boy up.
65.00 for tickets to the world peace event plus gas and food. It is far beyond my reach.
I think fondly of the days on the Corporate dime. The tickets to Seminars cost 500.00 per class, 80.00 per diem plus travel such as plane tickets ,car rental and hotel. Hey! It was physics.
It is all relative Mario.

The war in Iraq will cost the average American around $6,700. I don't think anyone will die at the World Peace Conference.

More than 3400 dead Americans, because a Republican administration obfuscated, misrepresented and outright lied us into war and you are bitching about a peace conference? Well thanks to the liberals we do have an Endangered Species Act. You Republicans are going to need its protections after the '08 election.

If we can get out of this peace conference without the experience of Portland, Oregon it will be an amazing feat. But, don't hold your breath.
As to the tax situation in Santa Fe. It is both perplexing and "taxing." If the homeowners were promised low taxes then the promise should be honored. It will be interesting to see the outsome.

There's too many people in Santa Fe. The outsiders and the rich came into Santa Fe and used property taxes to move the local population aside. Now the rich prey on the less rich. Santa Fe is a world class location in terms of beauty, climate and culture.
Who does the work? Mexicans?
Santa Fe's middle class is endangered.
