The fact that he was even prosecuting is just shameful and sad!

The fact that again you defend law breakers is shameful. He did not need to destroy the property. He could have just taken the flag inside.
After nearly eight years of the Bush presidency it is evident that Republicans support law breakers.
BTW it was lynch's choice to take it to trial. If someone has their property destroyed and wishes to file charges I would hope the DA would pursue the case if there is evidence of wrong doing.
Sounds to me that the Republican nominee for District Attorney is wantinf to follow the mold of Alberto Gonzales.

I am a Viet Nam era veteran and can not support someone destroying property. I can see the fellow taking down the flag, but why tear it up?

The bigger picture for me is the type of cases that the DA continues to choose to take to trial. Its a waste of tax payers money. She could have just required him to apologize and give them a new flag.

voter, lynch chose to take it to trial. He knew he was in the wrong but wanted to make a political statement. As a tax payer I want to know that when I want to press charges I can.

Fred
There are plenty of instances where someone presses charges and the DA without their consent pleads the case out for some really insignificant probation or restitution. I realize he wanted to go to trial but I still think it was a waste of money and more of a political statement by Brandenburg than anyone else!

So Fred if somebody had taken down the US Flag and ripped it up then they should be prosecuted?

Ogler,
If someone chooses to rip up someone elese's property then they should be prosecuted. You trying to bait fred into saying that he would support destroying the American flag like people doing oin the street in a protest. Those protestors bring their own flags to burn, they dont rip down the property of someone else which IS AGAINST THE LAW.

You are correct JD. It all comes down to destroying someone else's property. I know people that fly flags that have a value greater than money. At times it is can not be simply replaced by another flag.

So JD and Fred I take it you are for the arrest and prosecution of he damage that was done at UNM by protesters on 15 March 2008 and a story appeared in the Daily Lobo on 3/26/08. To help you all the link is as follows.

Well yes property was defaced(albeit with beet juice and cornstartch, hardly permanent destruction)
But the response of the Grounds manager needing to "call in emergency overtime workers" is pretty over dramatic. Was this really an emergency requiring workers to come immediately for overtime pay?
The group which officially requested the protest needs to be held responsible in the end.
Im sure the protest group isn't going to go to court hoping to get off scott free for breaking the law like the flag ripper was hoping to do.

What the hell is a Mexican flag doing flying on American publically-owned soil? Who was the ass wipe who put the Mexican flag up an American taxpayers flag-pole?
Poor Fred, he'll be a nothing nobody when Goerge Bush leaves office; Fred's fifteen minutes will be over and he and his tribe of lunatic moonbats will crawl back to their caves until Soros calls for his batties.

Further, La Raza is by its' nature a racist organization and so very un-American.

Why is a racist organization like la raza allowed to have space on a public campus in the first place? Does this mean that the kkk is allowed? Or the american nazi party? After all, in order to be "inclusive", all points of view must be accomadated, right?
It seems to me that most of the politicians in New Mexico really want to become a part of old mexico. Why not just let them do that -- and then New Mexico can become the same sort of third-world cesspool that old mexico.
It would do la raza a bit of good to remember that the reason New Mexico (and the rest of the land that was SOLD to the USA by mexico) is now so desireable and prosperous is because of hard work. Not because of manana being a way of life. If it goes back to old mexico - kiss your welfare goodbye. You won't need to be supported by your betters any longer, will you? Bwahahahahaha!!!

Why was the flag of a foreign government flying on US public property in the first place?

Actually lynch's fifteen minutes of fame are already over. That is what he was looking for when he decided to go for a jury trial. He had already admitted to destroying property.
These are the type of stories wingnuts love to hold on to. They would rather ignore the real problems the country needs to deal with. I guess we know why a majority of Americans trust the Democrats more than the republicans to handle the big issues.

He did the right thing, My familly has been here since 1832, and after we became a State we respected the state and the US,so my mother had always taught me.To bad the politicians have'nt prosecuted Guy Riordan for bribing corupt Politicians that they have admited to under oath. What's happening with that. Two people in a Federal Penitentury that he dealt with and the Attorney General never indicted him ie. Madrid or King. At least the SEC tried him on an administrating hearing. Lets see what they decide.
Yet they prosecute someone that upholds our Liberties. The Local AG must have nothing better to do,like spend our tax dollars on true Patriots
