I too believe people should be involved and informed voters, but what is sad here in NM (maybe elsewhere too, I dont know) is the way the Republican party is ran in NM there are only a select few who can be involved as there are those who would like to control and manipulate EVERYTHING for their own benefit!

The 2nd Congressional race will be one for the ages.
You now have three multi-millionaire candidates in the race. One is a Democrat, one is a Santa Fe Republican, and the other is a "just turned" Republican.
Then you have two young guns, one on each side. Both are popular within their respected party.
Then, you have a preacher who lost to Pearce. An Independent turned Republican who lost to Skeen. Lastly, you have an extreme liberal who's only goal is to rid the world of nuclear weapons and fuel.
Who knows where this one will end up? I certainly don't!

Wow.
After all the crap Mario Burgos gave Fernando C. De Baca this past March, to now be consulting a guy who gave the maximum amount to Bill Richardson's campaign just a few months ago and a person who gave U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman cash right before the November 2006 election against Allen McCulloch.
I guess Mario's loyalty to the Republican Party only goes as far as his pocketbook is concerned. Hypocrite!

Any registered Republican can attend their county’s pre-primary convention and be elected as a delegate to the State Republican Pre-Primary convention and vote for state wide and congressional races. The process is the same for Democrats as well. If you were not aware if a state wide candidate does not get 20% of the votes at their respective party’s Pre-Primary Convention then they well not be a candidate in June Primary. For those that are running in a Congressional District they have to get 20% of their Party’s Pre-Primary votes from the delegates of their respective district. My guess is that both Democrat and Republican County Pre-Primary Conventions will be held between now and mid February with State Conventions held in early to mid March. So call your respective County Party and find out when they will be having their Convention and get involved.
