Mario, so much of our growth had been based on both housing and cheap goods. The former leading to Americans being able to have a negative savings(not seen since the depression) and the later keeping inflation in check.
We have now seen what has happen to the housing market. We have yet to see the consequences of China owning so much of our debt.
Richardson has the New Mexico economy on a much more solid ground than that of Bush and the rest of the US.
BTW it took the fall of the dollar to shorten the gap in the trade deficit.

Fred,
When I was working as a fiscal analyst for the NM House of Rep. for the 2003 session (Bill Richardson's 1st session as Governor), I witnessed an unprecedented grab for money.
In order to make the budget balance, Bill Richardson grabbed money from everywhere he could. For example, he looted the local schoolboard's cash reserves and he moved the tobacco settlement money to a differtent line in the ledger so that it would look like we had a larger cash balance. The later trick allowed Bill Richardson to increase the overall recurring expenses. This has led to the enormous increase in state spending growth in recurring expenses.
Say all the bad things you want about Gary Johnson, but at least he kept a lid on spending and on taxes. If Bill is elected President, Bill will make Jimmy Carter look like Gary Johnson.

Jimmy Carter could never do a triathlon like Gary Johnson.

John, weren't you at Tax and Rev during the Johnson years or something forgettable like that? I recall how we all couldn't fathom you having that position but you didn't last long. Anywyay, as a mouth piece for Gary you were relatively harmless. I see you have faded into the wood work once again only to reappear in the blogosphere as a shill once again.
