Its not surprising to see which side of this you are on Mario. You are beholding to the parties that be at the NM Republican party and since they have given White their blessing (not publicly but they might as well have) of course you are going to side against Carraro. I have some serious ethical questions with regard to Darren White. If the republican party has their way we wont ever see these two candidates debate!
I don't like Darren White. He is a Libertarian. Libertarian is a nice sounding word, but when you put a Libertarian in charge of law enforcement you get weaseldom.
Figure this, Libertarianism is all about being free to do what you want as long as no one is harmed.
There is the defining adage "you can swing your arms as much as you want... as long as you stop short of touching me"
But as applied to the New Mexico motorist this 'swinging of arms' becomes a real statistical problem and people do get 'touched'.
So in my mind that is the problem with Libertarianism.
Someone got touched, now what?
In Darren White's libertarian world, getting touched is just part of the statistical cost of getting up and going outside.
But the rule of law is not about that.
The rule of law is about protecting people and even protecting people from the statistical probability of getting touched.
I advocate sending Darren White to some other weaseldom. He has not earned any sort of advancement.
I'd vote for a Dem before I'd vote for White.
And I gotta tell you... I really, really really don't like Dems.
I attended the debate on Saturday. The rules of not having any media there was explained & agreed upon by both candidates. Joe Carraro acted like a big mouth asshole when he invited the media & argued his reasoning with the organizer, Rory Ogle. On the other hand, Darren White not only followed the rules, but he was a complete gentleman. Rory Ogle was the organizer of this debate, & if Joe Carraro didn't like the rules, he should have declined to partake in the debate. It just goes to show the rotten big mouth common character of Carraro. If I hadn't been convinced that Darren White is the man for job, Carraro's actions would have convinced me. Senator Pete Domenici knows both of these candidates very well, & he has decided to stand behind Darren White for Congress!!!

How can Darren White say he was a good police officer when he couldn't police his own marriage or police his own son?

If Carraro should have recused himself from the debate as a matter of principle, why shouldn't golden boy Darren White not have had to recuse himself as well?
What was the good and ethical reason for secrecy at this event?
And do you think that if Carraro recused himself from an ethically depraved situation, that the Journal would have printed a word about it?
Sheriff White is not a good debater. He does not have a grasp of the issues.
Currently, he plays hero at staged press conferences on television. No substance.
When pushed to defend his positions, he can't defend himself. From co-chairing a Jack Abramoff type Thursday luncheon, to flip-flopping on abortion, to proposing a form of Amnesty at the debate on Saturday.
Both Rory Ogle and his father are avid White supporters. Is there any doubt why there was no press?
How sad it must be to be a Republican now a days. The power of the NMGOP now rides in Albuquerque, but that is soon to change. Heather will loose to Steve and the only congressional seat the Republicans will hold will be in the southern congressional district. White has no grasp of what it take to push legislation through, especially from the minority end. Joe has done well for his district as a minority Senator and he could do the same in congress. Distric 1 cannot afford on the job training, especially from the minority end.

During the Johnson Administration, Senator Carraro was on the Senate Finance committee. The standard practice was for Senator Manny Aragon(indicted) to berate Johnson Administation officials during these budget hearings. Senator Manny Aragon(soon to be in jail) did this no reason except because he could do it. There was no purpose or reason to the attacks.
Senator Carraro joined in berating of the Johnson officials, no need to do it, Senator Aragon(soon to be someone's boyfriend in prison) had already done it.
Senator Carraro was not a supportor of the Johnson administration and therefore, will not get the support of those who worked there.

In New Mexico we now refer to a poor debate performance as a pulling "Madrid". There is no doubt that it will now be short lived. White has no grasp of the issues. It will soon be replaced by pulling a "White". If the Republican party had any sense it would rally behind Joe. Joe already enjoys the support of westside Democrats. It will be to easy for the Democrats to tie White to Heather.

Joe Carraro, as a "lawmaker," is one of the most infamous deadbeat dads in the state. His divorce record is obscene and filled with spousal abuse allegations and outrageous conduct. All of this is public record and will be plastered everywhere by the media if Carraro gets any traction.
Carraro refused to pay court-ordered child support, repeatedly tried (and failed) to have a judge reduce his obligation to his kids by claiming to be broke (one time he pled poverty while simultaneously building an indoor swimming pool at his home), and was routinely admonished by the judge for his pathetic antics. As recently as 2005, the state was turning him over to collections for the back child support he owed.
And this is the guy who some think is the most "electable" candidate. Newsflash: The deadbeat, wife-beater for Congress is not going to sell well with women voters. No wonder the Democrats are pushing so hard for Carraro...
Give me a break. Where is Alan Reed and Bill Davis when we need them?
I remember that report about Carraro on TV. Guess who was the reporter--Darren White. Are you now using the name "Dan" Darren. That's why we need things recorded so that people can get sued for bearing false witness. And has anyone checked the divorce records of Darren White to see about allegations of his wife-beating. Ask those that worked with him at DPS before he left because of the no-confidence vote by the state police. It was messy with all that was going on. And my daughter said that someone named Aron actually wrote his college papers for him too. He and his buddies are really slimy and will do and say anything to win an election. Look what they did to Chairman C de Baca and what White did to Governor Johnson just to save his own hide.

Drog are you sure you know what a "Liberterian" might be? Based on White's fight with Governor "No" during the Johnson administration over the legalization of drugs, I believe you have mis-crowned White. It was White who resigned. If he is or was a Libertarian he would have stuck around and fought for the legalization of drugs. Crown Johnson a Libertarian and you'll have it right.

No one believes that Darren White would have been confirmed by the Democrat State Senate as the state's Top Cop had there been any accusations of spousal abuse. Nor would he have been elected Sheriff (twice) without the media having a field-day about it. It's a false smear thrown out there to help the Democrats.
Finally, a vote of "no-confidence" by a union organized by Manny Aragon is hardly a reason to vote against a candidate. Didn't they just vote "no-confidence" on their new DPS Secretary?
It is a mistake I think, to blithely assume that the media will automatically investigate even credible allegations of misconduct
and by no means can one assume that just because the media didn't report it, that nothing must be wrong.

At the debate, when I asked the candidates what they have done in support of our troops, as I said, Joe has done nothing, but Darren answered. Darren, however, did't even say 10 percent of what he's done so far. One big thing he's done is what follows:

Alia is extremely grateful for all that Darren did, and she has placed the large sum of money into a trust fund for her son’s college education.

Really? That's great for Darren! Now he just needs to move down to southern New Mexico where a candidate like that can pull the wool over the public's eyes. Up here, I don't think his schtick will sell as well. And hiding from the media in private debates won't help him, especially in the general election. He can claim he wants to debate in an open forum until he's blue in the face, but actions speak louder than words.
Oh well, after he loses in the general election, he'll have his singing career to fall back on - depending on whether or not New Kids on the Block get back together...

Darren & his wife are friends of mine, & friends that I am very proud to call friends. Yes, they have been to dinner, just as most people invite their friends to dinner. Your implications are very wrong. I've also had others to dinner in the past, such as Fernando & Cecilia C. De Baca, Angie McKinstry, Joyce Pullen, etc., etc.. Are you suggesting that there were hidden factors with them? Whoever you are, you are an asshole, & I'd love to know your true identity so that we could meet in court.
