I don't know you, but I want you to know what a good mom you are. I have been diabetic for 21 years (I am almost 26), and my mom was great like you. Because of her constant care with my diabetes control, I was just able to have my first child. Unfortunately kids with diabetes have to grow up a little faster. They have to know the complications. You did the right thing. Also, I have an insulin pump, and I love it. It is a little frustrating at first, but it is so worth it! Anyways, Happy Birthday!

Hi Martha-
I found your site by googling my own tests results.I am so sorry to hear that your son is going though this ,as a mother my heart goes out to you.
I was confused about something..
maybe someone could tell me why i should be concerned. As i said i found your blog because i googled my test results.I recently applied for life insurance (I'm 51 in good health) and the reason they gave me an high premium is because my bllod sugar was A1C 6.1.I have no history of diabetes, last mnth I was at my dr's and he said the last tests I got (about 6 months ago ) showed my sugar was "perfect"..
I know you have your hands full with your son's illness so if you don't want to reply,I understand .If anyone else can email me with what these results could mean and why the insurance company says their bad,I would appreciate it.
thanks
Candace Hanna

I know of a great test for diabetes. I know of many that must go to the doctor to get thier A1c diabetes test results. I finally found a company in Florida that sells a A1c Diabetes mail in test for just $19 bucks. The best part of it is all you have to do is put 2 drops of blood on the form and mail it in the prepaid envelope back to them. Then in a couple of days you can call them or wait and get the results in the mail. They sell it on their website at www.flexsite.com or I found that the same website is also called www.alwaysincontrol which is easier for me to remember. Anyways, best of luck to all.
