Martha,
Thankfully you are all safe. I am so sorry for the things you have lost. What a way to start a new year.

Vivian

Thank goodness you are safe! And so is your house mostly. How frightening, and how amazing that you managed to make it out just in time. When tragedy strikes a whole community, you have each other to work through it with. A shared collective experience. Which doesn't make it any better, not at all, but at least you're all there for each other. I hope the insurance covers the damage. i am so, so glad you're safe, and dry, and together!

Oh, Martha! I'm so sorry you guys are having to cope with all of this. Please let me know if there's anything we can help with from Berkeley. Anything. I mean it. I'm listed in the phonebook, or just email.

Hugs to you and I hope this means your quota for bummers in '06 is completely used up and NOTHING bad will come your way from here on out.

Hey There You,

Sorry to hear about the shitty start to your year and I am glad you are all ok. That's the important thing. Hope nothing precious was lost in storage. Karen's friend in Arcata who we went to see just after we met you was also flooded and I wondered how far south was affected.

Im glad Cornelia is ok aswell. I was wondering whether you were hit.

Our love goes out to you. There's a couch in London with your name on it!! xx

This is such a tragedy and I'm so sorry for you and your family. I hope life gets back to normal for you soon.

Brenda B.

Oh man! That's horrible Martha! I'm glad to hear you guys made it out just in time though and everyone is safe and OK. I am so sorry this happened to you (and everyone else in your area). We had a freak storm hit our city this past summer - same results .... it was horrible. I hope insurance picks up the bill to fix everything - you don't need the added stress of having to pay for the clean up.

I wish there was something I could do to help you guys out - but living in another country has it's drawbacks in this situation - heh! Please take care and let us know how you're doing. I hope you're back in your house in no time.

Thinking of you lots.

OMG, how scary for you. I'm so glad that you were able to get out, and get your son's insulin. I hope insurance pans out well for you. Good luck.

Yikes! I'm so glad you guys are safe!

So sorry, Martha. Once I learned that you and your family were safe all I could think about was your work. I hope you had it in a safe place or were able to take the backups with you. Something. Anything. I can't stand to think that you might have lost your work in progress. I have my fingers crossed.

I logged into your blog to tell you about the Amazon.com connection with authors blogs...There's an article here. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/12/2...oks/ 27blog.html

(((BIG HUGS)))) and I'll reiterate THANKFULLY you are all ok.

Everyone should know how to grab the most important papers and medications quickly, because in a panic it's next to impossible to think.

Good luck with the insurance. We're still trying to get estimates so we can submit them from Hurricane Wilma in Florida.

Martha, I'm so sorry. When I saw the news about the CA counties hit by the flooding, I thought, "Yea, not near Martha!" but I guess the rain and tide had other ideas. Hope everything gets back to normal soon.

Hey Martha,
Sorry seems like a lame thing to say, but I really, really am. We are just an hour or so south of you and have it coming down, but our house happens to be on top of a hill... I can't imagine having to evacuate. So glad that you all have your health and that your son's got his meds. All will be well again soon, I know. You're a brave lady!

I'm glad you and your family are safe, Martha. May the rest of 2006 bring only good things. Thinking of you and all involved.

Oh, Martha how terrible. I am glad you got out allright and everyone is OK. Cleaning up your house won't be fun, but at least you are safe.

Martha,

How scary. I'm glad you're all safe and will be thinking of you and your family.

Nicole
