this "plan" for a superhighway has been around since the mid-1990's... it started under CLINTON... right after CLINTON got NAFTA passed and CLINTON signed it into law (always worth reading more than the first page when you google "NAFTA Superhighway"). this is just the story being promoted by an outfit called Human Events (Online)... and if you look at their site, you'll see that THEIR version of this is parrotted verbatim at most of the other sites .

in actuality, there's very little new highway being built... it's improvements to existing interstates... been funded by pork and special interest projects by the states that will gain the most (TX, IA, IN, IL, MI, KS...) via their senators and congressmen... the money to "improve" these highways and "construct" this superhighway has been in every highway appropriations bill since 1998 (under Clinton)... the first proposal for this was in 1996 (under Clinton)... and not only will the SuperHighway mean goods coming IN and THROUGH the country, but will provide the means to EXPORT American goods as well.

this "superhighway" concept is real, but maybe not so "big brother" as they make it out to be... nothing like trying to sway the masses with a little panic! here's the post with references to the 1990's info
