hmmm...well its no parable of the yeast but it makes a very good point. We can't go to judge yet we may get judged ourselfs. Yet we can not chastise those who do not follow, because we can be judged by god as well. I quote Rev.Borror "Were gods enemy" We fight against him, we drive away from him and we dilute and disgrace the gospel before him. Harder and harder it is to find the happy medium......between keeping your own faith, gathering people together to hear the gospel, keeping the gospel sacred and well kept (not polishing it or re-writing it but keeping it from being misinterpreted) and defending our own faith, with out judging or blasphoming...is a bit hard. Thank god for that little thing we call redemption through christ. These new isms and philosophies probably in the initial state weren't against christainity...but then people got a hold of them and messed them up. Kinda like Taoism and Buddism..there not religions there philosophies. Where I'm going with this is that eventually were gonna hvae a whole new string of "religions" and there "worshippers" are going to and already have chastised Christains for being "arcaic" and "old fashioned"....I guess having the perservernce paul talked about is a worthwhile skill to develop..but I'm rambling..good entry all in all. Oh by the way..i'm sending this late christmas gift very soon (sorry been busy) along with another letter (I'll try to keep it at a ten page minimum this time)

It's not as if the pomos have been all that receptive to the Christians who have tried to be authoritative, either. Jacques Maritain and the current Pope come to mind as authentic philosophers who spoke to modernity and postmodernity and were dismissed, although maybe they don't really qualify as answering pomos?
That Over the Rhine song is nice, BTW

Great post. I wander over to your blog occasionally and I find myself agreeing with you quite frequently (that is, when I can understand you). It seems to me that so much of post-evangelicalism/liberalism attempts to arrive at humility and charity through the means of uncertainty. Seems to me that love is a better way - the love poured out into our hearts via the Holy Spirit. And it seems to me that at the judgment, God will be more impressed with our love (wrought in and through him) than with our uncertainty.
You mention that the solution to a false gospel is not no gospel, but the true gospel. I agree. I'd love to read a short post by you that details your understanding of what the true gospel is. Blessings!

If ever there was a question deserving of a clear, precise and immediate answer - that's the one. I'll get right to work on it (but it may not be short).
