I did a Install and Archive (I did set it to keep the users etc.), installed OS X Tiger over 10.3.9.
After the install restart it only showed one of my user accounts, pre-installation it also showed my administrator account, now that one is ... strangely gone.
Since it is 'gone', not even present in the Users folders, I can't even make any changes in my Accounts in System Preferences to make a new account.
So basically I am clueless now on how to get my administrator account + all my applications etc. that were put into its home directory - prior to installation - back. Please help, tis is indeed scarey.
Nothing got deleted btw., taking into account the few Gb of the installed files, nothing got deleted.. I put well over 20Gb of stuff in my administrator directory, which btw. I had safely called 'root' during a previous installation.

I was reading your article re: Recovering Lost Users.
If there is no saved disk image. You say it is \"almost impossible to retrieve it\". Well I have done just this. And I am hoping that the almost impossible, is not, in fact, the impossible. Can you give me a hand with this. I have deleted the guest user, that my daughter saved all of her homework on, and I did not save a disk image. What can I do?

Hi there, can anyone help? I have deleted a folder into the trash and then cleared my trash. Had not realised that it was an entourage folder for email and now I open entourage I have lost my account detail all my folders of email etc. Is there anything (software) that I can use to recover?

Hi, After being on the net the night before I opened my Macbook pro the next day to find my admin user account won't open. the older in there on the HD but the contents are empty. I can go to another user's account and open it without a problem. I even created a new admin user access account but I cannot open or access the original or find any of its contenets. When I try to open it the screen goes from the blue background to grey. The toolbar line at the top only partly opens(all I can see here is about 2 cm and the search icon. When I move the cursor to this I get the cloured spinning wheel icon. I have to hold down the start button to shutdown to get out of it. Any one had this problem/ideas/help?? M

Hi, I have a similar problem where I accidentally deleted the predefined 'Users' and 'staff' from one of my folders I was sharing. These are found in the folder properties, under Sharing & Permissions. Can you help me by telling me how to get either of these back? I am using Mac OS X 10.5.6.
