You can't just drag the folder (at least I couldn't)

It worked after i did that!

$\"Gravatar\"$ This is a very useful set up without having to use a 3rd party program or photoshop. It worked beautifully for me. I just created a blank folder on my desktop and dropped the images that I wanted resized. Then I ran the program and it resized all of my images in seconds. Thank you so much for this great tip

$\"Gravatar\"$ ok, I just found an issue with my resizing. The automator program can actually resize the ratio of the pixels, but not the actual size... in other words.. I have a .JPG image that's 2.7MB in size and 1900x1200; let's say.... when I resize it using automator, it can bring the ratio down to 480 pixels, however, the image size its still 2.7MB...What I'm looking for needs to also bring down the size in MB of the image. I will look further into this. Thanks for the tip though.

$\"Gravatar\"$ The application doesn't scale the image if the original image is in the Desktop, I think it fails in the Copy Finder Items step. It does work if your image is in another folder. I've made my Copy Finder Items step to copy the items to a folder named Modified, so I can work with files on the Desktop.

Thanks a bunch for the tip, it makes scaling images not just possible with the Mac out of the box, but also in a way that's more fun then on the PC.

$\"Gravatar\"$ The problem with this as well the Aperture rescale is that it keeps the ratio of pixels the same as the original. I need to convert image grabs from final cut which are 1440 x 1080 to 1920 x 1080, so that they do not appear vertically squashed. I cannot believe that neither aperture, preview, iphoto or any other software I've tried can do this in a batch process. (All outputted images always remain squished, just smaller!). I have to batch 50,000 images this way, so one by one is out of the question. Sorry apple, you fail on this one!!!

$\"Gravatar\"$ I. Thank you very much, I've hated Preview's inability to resize images for a long time. belightsoft.com's Image Tricks works well and is smaller and faster that Photoshop or Lightroom, but Automator is much better.

II. Tip: If you

1. use \"Finder > Get Specified Finder Items\" instead of \"Finder > Ask for Finder Items\", and
2. then use Save As Plug-In... (to make a Finder plug-in),

it'll be saved as a .workflow. To use it, you select one or more images and right-click on them. In the \"Automator\" sub-menu you'll find your workflow(s).

III. Warning: Using Filevault (at least on 10.4) breaks some of Automator's actions. To get around this I created a /Users/space directory and had the \"Finder > Copy Finder Items\" action copy to it instead of my Filevault-protected Desktop.

Had to print out 12 blue prints that were set in huge PDF Files and had the automator resize them down. The Print time per page went from 20-25min per page to 2 mins a page

'Change file type' in Preview can change pdfs to jpgs but not, it appears, the other way round. Does anyone know an Automator script that will let me do this?
