$\"Gravatar\"$ I tried editing and replacing the plist file and couldn't get the OS to update its cached version by moving it around. Instead, if you just open the plist file with the default application Property List Editor, add the property, save and restart the program you don't run into this cache issue. The detailed instructions are:

0. Backup the plist file before you edit it in case there is a problem.
1. Open the plist file in Property List Editor (should be the default app)
2. Expand the Root item to show all the properties.
3. Click New Child to add a property.
4. Name the new property LSUIElement
5. Set the value to 1, (the class defaults to string).
6. Save and quit.
7. Restart your app.

I did this in 10.5.7 and so far no problems. There may be issues in the future with signed apps judging from discussions on other sites about this.

$\"Gravatar\"$ Can anyone confirm if this works for X11.app? I have tried the method in the article, used Dock Dodger, and also used Plist Editor as suggested above, and nothing works. The app always shows its icon in the Dock.

It's just the path to the info.plist file.
NOTE: WILL NOT WORK IF YOU PUT /Contents/Info.plist (don't put .plist in the command)
