When running the maximum number of spaces, and hitting F8, it is a very noticeable difference.  I had been using it since I bought my MacBook Pro, and didn't think much about 3d stuff being sluggish until I reinstalled and realized that things were a lot snappier.  Turned the hack on again, and sure enough, things got slow.
