As far as Keyboard settings, you'd have to create an alternate keystroke for the Stickies service by adding an application-specific (or system-wide) keystroke by using the plus (+) key in the System Preferences, Keyboard and Mouse control panel, Keyboard Shortcut tab. But, as folks already mentioned, the default, which should be displayed by the \"Make New Sticky Note\" item in the Services submenu (of the application menu) is Command Shift-Y.

I was testing it by copying text out of Firefox, and the command-shift-Y combination has been hijacked in Firefox by a Firefox add-on I have called \"Web Developer\". So if anyone else has problems, try the copying text to Stickies exercise from a different application, which might work and therefore isolate your problem.

Ditto when I go to Services and select \"make new sticky note.\" I do notice that if I do not select some text, the \"make new stickie note\" line is grayed-out, so something is happening. Anyone know what?

However....in order to make that happen, I had to install all of the XCode package from Disc 2 of my mac osx installer discs (version 10.5.6) in order to make this happen. (I could not only install the \"Developer Tools\" folder!)

Now I have about 3gigs of stuff that I don't think i'll ever use again! was that worth it? If I delete the \"Developer\" folder which now shows up as a folder directly on my HD's root folder will I lose the scroll bar on my Stickies notes? Would other strange things happen? Any help would be appreciated for my half-tech-savvy self.

You should be fine to delete the developer folder, but you will need to install it again if you ever want to remove the scroll bars.

one thing: 3. Add scroll bars to Stickies - I think you did this pre-Leopard, I can't seem to figure out what to do once I open up Leopard's updated-version of the Info pane.
