How productive is that?

Getting back on track: I tried playing with the settings -- but specifically the refresh bar/button settings don't go far enough. They leave a hung refresh icon in the tabs, and it's background isn't transparent, so it looks awkward. I've tried restarting my browser, and the mac.

I really don't like the tiny refresh button -- poor responsiveness to \"escape\" when you want to \"Stop\" loading a page. For some reason, that feature ('escape' to stop a page from loading) just got wonky after Safari 4 initial beta. It seems a little better.... but overall the app is still far more sluggish than safari 3 (and i've been using it fulltime for months).

I feel like it's UI is sluggish, but pages render OK. It's odd -- so I'm really hoping the final release is really tidied up.

On a related note, to avoid any known issues, or potential problems, I removed all of my \"Internet-Plugins\" from my Library (all of the libraries)... and re-acquired each of the plugins I wanted again.... and that seemed to cure a few headaches --- but nothing specifically.

Seems like there's still some work left to do.

I CAN'T WANT until they fix the \"Reload\" problem where-in third party apps that embed safari/webkit into their app can't seem to send a \"reload\" through a button push -- the only way to get a page to properly reload is to right-click and reload. Specifically this is happening in Coda -- from Panic -- but i hear it's also happening in other apps -- though I haven't found any).

Thanks again for this cool list!!!
           Jackson | 05.24.09 - 5:02 pm | #

The real way to get Safari running smoothly is to stay far away from version 4.0. The only thing still bothering me is the horrible feature in the Google search bar where it stores your previous searches, and now there's no way to delete it without deleting your whole history. The \"topsites\" thing was annoying the hell out of me, nice to be able to turn it off. Pity Apple don't pre-warn you when one of their \"updates\" is not only going to include horrible features, but is also going to break something important. Somewhat disgusted to learn that a safari update, of all things, breaks XCode, and moreso when I learn that the XCode update to fix it means shelling out 75 quid to \"upgrade\" to leopard.

Particularly pissed off about this given that I only use Safari as a secondary browser, was quite happy with the old version, and hated most of the new \"features\" even before learning that it broke XCode. I mean, *how* does a frickin' browser update break XCode, FFS?

Guess I should have learned my lesson with Apple's software updates a while back, what with disabled iTunes features and so on.
