That didn't work for me. Although the command executed without any error, it did nothing. No reset at all. I had to temporarily change the access rights of /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow.plist to make the file writeable for an account with Administrative privileges, deleted the line in question (the HiddenUsersList entry with key \"0\" and value \"shortname\") and saved the file. That did revert the changes.

$\"Gravatar\"$ There was a way to hide accounts from the Login Window pre-10.4 by changing a value for the user in NetInfo Manager. It's been so long, though, that I don't recall exactly what I used to change.

$\"Gravatar\"$ As the name suggests, -array-add updates the HiddenUsersList item. If you use -array instead, this sets the item (so that old hidden users are cleared). If you use -array with nothing after it, this sets it to the empty array, so no users are hidden (but \"Others\" is still displayed).

As Christian says above, you can also remove the item from the plist in order to remove all hidden users.
