It looks like they are achieved using shift (or alt?) on the 4 key and the + key.

Alternatively, you could try temporarily changing your keyboard layout to English through the Mac OS X Input menu. This might mean that you can just push whatever is to the top left of the return key for the same results.

and I do get [] by using alt, 9 or 0 and {} by using alt,7 or 8 but it has no effect on the size, it stays at 0.50{} ... ? I tried different things without success. They don't seem to talk about it in the tutorial.
